I'd bet money, her mother and her have long range plans for you? I have noticed this strategy since day one of coming to the DR and more lately. And not just with women but with many other dominicans. When they have a long range goal in mind or simply want to conceal their intent, a lot of it is done by forgoing immediate gratification or compensation.

They can accomplish a few things with that approach. It may help bridge a bond with their mark. May help drop any defenses one may have up. May help make someone less suspcious of them having an agenda. It may help make them appear more sincere and genuinie. And it usually works too. Look how easily many of us respond to a chica or any Dominican who appears not to want money or a favor. Many of us don't look at that response as the norm. Some of us may be immediately impressed by that. And were quick to bring that up if we choose to tell someone we know. Including making a bigger deal of it than it is. Many of us are more used to seeing a take take take mentality in the dr.

I have a taxi guy in the DR like that. He intentionally avoids and almost refuses to give a price for his services. Why? Because he knows how many foreigners think. And how grateful many of us are to have somebody in a foreign country "looking out" for us. He knows that if he waits patiently, he can get a bigger payday later from his client than from a simple trip from one place to the next. You need money changed? Shop at the store? Him pick up and drop off a girl for you? Anything extra he does turns into a much bigger profit for him. When he operates like that, now you arent paying for where he drove to. You are potentially running a tab on services and conveniences and possibly have no clue what he expects when hes done.

Its almost like running a tab at a bar, and being hit with a huge bill because you never checked the prices of everything individually. Not to mention the possibility of deception or fraud. Just a brief thought.
