[/QUOTE]Certainly a post off the norm. I have done plenty of tourism in Thailand, including old Sukhothai that you mentioned and nearby Srisatchanalai. Mostly I am prone to taking a girl with me to places of doubtful mongering potential. Pick a girl you know well that won't bore you quickly. I took a girl to Koh Tao for example, and to Koh Samet, Koh Lipe, and even to Koh Phi Phi.

Obviously you will know that Phuket, Koh Samui, Hua Hin, Hat Yai have plenty of mongering. For a nice beach area with coral snorkeling trips available, and some girlie bars in at least two locations in town, there is Ao Nang in Krabi.

A fabulous Calcite Crystal cave called Tham Kaew Komol in Mae La Noi district is worth a visit from either Chiang Mai, or from Mae Hong Son, however is a very long winding drive from either major town of several hours (where some mongering could be found). I really liked Mae Hong Son province in general but I took a girl with me each time.

Phi Mai old ruins are not far from Khorat with mongering definitely available there.

Most major towns will have some mongering for Thais, however it would be easier for me being able to speak Thai, so I don't really recommend. I will try Ubon mongering sometime soon.

I did the Mae Hong Son Loop while I was up in that area. It was a great trip and I liked all the little towns that I stopped in (Mae Sariang, Mae Hong Son, and Pai). It was the best scenery I have seen in Thailand in my 3 years here. I did a little hunting each night. Got a massage each night and struck out every time. I also did that trip right after the King passed, so that may have had something to do with the lack of options. I think the only option is to get friendly with a local and ask him about what is available. I did some drinking with the hotel owner in Mae Sariang, and then I asked about the bar tender down the road where I had been earlier. He asked if I liked her and said that he could give her a call for me. It was 1 am, so I passed because I had to hit the road early the next day. That was the closest I got to any action. If you are up north the easiest and most obvious mongering are only going to be in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.

Tea and coffee plantations up in the hills can be interesting too. I have always taken a girl with me to this area rather than looked for mongering opportunities. I've reported on this area a bit as I live up here. So I'm just going to add some info about the local fishbowl place that I finally got around to visiting. The location is on Tiwanon RD. Just South of the Bond street intersection. Its very close to Muang Thong Thani. Bond street also has about 20 massage places that offer pretty much everything, so there is plenty of choice in this area. I've already reported about the area in general in this particular forum.

So I was looking for a massage place open on Bond st. Around 12 midnight. There was only one place open that didn't look that appealing. So I wanted to try my luck around the corner and see if the fishbowl place was open. I pulled in and it didn't look open, because it wasn't. There is a large parking lot and a complex with several buildings. The fishbowl is in the building on the right. Usually you would pick a girl from the lineup and then come outside to the back of the complex to some bungalows that you rent for short time. Tonight was a bit different. I just thought that I was going to drive around the parking lot and pull out. There were some food vendors and girls loitering in the parking lot. 2 of the girls started waving me down and approaching my car. So like a gentleman, 555, I stopped to see what they could do for me. One of them asked if I wanted a massage. She looked pretty good and in her mid 20's, so I said sure. We went and rented a bungalow for 580 baht. Which I thought was kinda pricey, but I was willing to see how this played out. The bungalow was actually pretty nice. I would rent this place while staying out of town and be very happy with it. So I shower and she starts giving me a really good firm massage while chatting a bit. My Thai isn't too bad and she didn't speak much English. Eventually we talk money and she wants 2000 baht. I told her only if get 2 shots. She said ok.

So the girl was 27 (her name was Chompoo) with a pretty smokin' baby free body once the clothes came all the way off. Very nice firm tits (b-cup) with long nipples. Nice muscular legs and ass that had good proportionate thickness on them. Much better than your average Thai girl. Very similar to Golf from Tulip, but not quite as good. Her face was a 7 with a pretty good smile, so I was a happy camper for a bit. She looked much better than I would have guessed with her clothes off, but it's usually the opposite. So I was pleasantly surprised. The service was kind of a mixed bag with some letdowns. Covered BJ, but given with a great view of her ass. No DFK or DATY. She was avoiding it. Good enthusiastic cowgirl in regular and reverse. The first shot was taken care of with her riding in reverse cowgirl.

So he starts to give another good firm massage while I rested a bit. The 2nd round was similar and a lot longer because she started asking me to finish about 20 min in. So that kind of ruined it a bit. I probably spent about 2. 5 hours in the room and she hadn't rushed anything untill then. So I was about 2600 in damage in. I would rather spend that at Tulip or SW even for a girl that didn't look as good, but provided great service. But since I live up here, I'm willing to check out all the options at least for the experience. The girl wasn't really PSE, or GFE. I wouldn't repeat her as she was a little to mercenary for me, but not a total waste of time either. I'll stop by another time and pick another girl from the fishbowl (during open hours in the afternoon) I think the bungalow part runs 24 hours a day, so the girls probaby hang out a bit after close to make some extra cash. I feel like I could get a session for cheaper if I chatted with Pappasan.

Tours sold from Hotels in Mae Hong Son and Chaing Mai, want to sell stuff that is easier to get to. They will take you to the ordinary stuff. They will not mention the Calcite cave, or make some excuse that it is closed. Need to actually get official information from the park about rainy season closures.

Kanchanaburi tourist info is crap. "Death Railway Museum and tombstones" and the fake "Bridge on the River Kwai". Really takes a lot of research to find out about what the province has to offer for totally different things. Even stuff like finding out about the affect of weather seasons on Coral Islands in Thailand is very tough. Do you know what time of year Chaweng beech in Koh Samui is at its most beautiful crystal clean blue-green waters? I know not to arrive before February earliest, where January it is better to be on Andaman side of Thailand. Good info is not around.

Even Travel Guides like the Lonely Planet were totally crap last time I looked at them (a few years ago). They used to cover, Hotels, restaurants, travel in and out. Boring crap. Nothing much about what there is to see in the place, and best time of year to be there.

I was lucky that my Thai GF would find out about the more obscure beautiful places to visit in Thailand.

How many guys have visited Wat Umong in Chiang Mai? Chiang Mai has lots of temples on a standard tour, but for the one in the most beautiful nature setting, Wat Umong (The Tunnel underground Temple), is my pick. Did many of Chiang Rai travellers check out the stunning Wat Rong Khun art temple in white and silver? I heard it was damaged in recent years by an earthquake, so I don't know the state of repair.

Perhaps sites like Trip Advisor help, however it relies on people knowing about something and ranking it. Hardly anyone knows about the Calcite Cave. Probably does not have a ranking.

New flights direct from Guangzhou began recently with the effect already being felt. The island has gone the way of Phuket: look at tripadvisor or agoda and see the nationalities of people submitting hotel reviews of these places to get an idea. Lonely Planet will inform you of which places are 'friendly' for homosexuals. Otherwise, it is a singular source for useless hotels.

I saw a few foreigners in the area around the meditation school. I'm assuming they were there for that. The whole complex was pretty nice and peaceful. I found a lot of out of the way temples in Chiang Mai on my 2nd trip after seeing the usual sights the first time. Wat Umong is mentioned and reviewed on tripadvisor now, so maybe it will become a bit more popular now. I found a lot of things just by riding a rented motorbike all over the westside of town leading over to the mountains.

My buddy, an ex-pat living in Pattaya, convinced me to spend a few days in Hua Hin. He was confident that I would enjoy it. He even recommended that I skip Bangkok, and spend a week in Hua Hin. My answer was, not this time.

He is on a budget, so he chose not take the boat from Pattaya to Hua Hin, despite my offer to pick up the tab. Instead, he purchased 2 bus tickets and we ended up doing the bus route, Pattaya-Bangkok airport-Hua Hin, for a brutal 5+ hour road trip, one way. He would not even take the money for my share of the bus cost, go figure. So, by the time we arrived in Hua Hin, my old body was shot and I could only drink that evening. I did pick up a bar girl that night but I could not perform.

We stayed there 3 days and I thoroughly enjoyed that city. A lovely little town, probably the cleanest and most orderly Thai city I have ever visited. You can smell money in the air, as the folks there looked well off, at least for some of the people. They had some fine restaurants that satisfied the foody in me, almost a mini-Bangkok.

The only con was the beach chair mafia. They wanted 100 bahts per chair and they would not let me sit up front, close to the water. One lady told me the area was reserved for Thai families only, and another guy asked me if I were going to order food as well. He was satisfied with my order of a coconut. My total bill came to 170 bahts, for 1-hour stay plus a coconut.

The mongering action was limited to a small area, that the locals refer to as mini-Walking Street. But there was plenty of action for me. That area had easily 200+ bars and massage parlors, mingled in with eating places. The action got going at night, starting around 8 pm, and their prices were similar to Pattaya bar prices. I paid 1. 5 k bahts plus a 300 bahts barfine, for ST.

I found some action during the day as well. Their massage places open around 10 am, and they aggressively encourage you to visit, which I did. They offer something referred to as "exceptional massage", an euphemism for a 1-hour massage followed by a real happy ending. Total cost was 1,300 bahts. However, if you happen to be there, avoid the massage places inside the WS zone. The facilities are flimsy and the service is barely acceptable. Instead, look for the massage places outside the zone, with much better facilities and more professional service.

Anyone taken the Hua Hin ferry? They say the ferry can take 90 minutes to 3 hours, depending on the choppiness of the water.

I am planning for a weekend trip to Hua Hin. Can somebody please guide me on the best beach side guest friendly hotel in Hua Hin.

Then it certainly will be far nicer than a road trip. I have been sick on a boat to Kho Tao, but fortunately only the once. Just was not great weather.

The one I stayed in had a sign saying that guests would be charged a fee for overnight guests. I had a WG spend the night, but I was not charged anything extra.

The best beach hotel, IMO, is the Hilton, right on the beach but probably expensive. Back in late April, I checked a room in a hotel next door to the hilton for 1,800 bahts, but my buddy convinced me to look elsewhere. I ended up staying in a hotel about 5 minute walk to the beach for 1,000 bahts / night, and it was a decent hotel. Sorry, I already forgot the name of the hotel but it sounded something like Assasa.
