First 2 nights I had no problem with I D (Tembo girl, Casuarina girl). Both times I returned after 4am and walked right past reception. There is a recent report on TA about new police scams in Bamburi:

"Last week a very lovely elderly man who has visited Kenya for over 22 yrs. Left his wife on the sunlounger and as always took his usual walk along the bamburi Beach. Stopping for a breath (as always) two little children came up and touched his arm and leg. No words were spoken, IMMEDIATELY two policemen appeared and said he had asked the children for se$ and he had to pay 12, 000 swiss franks or taken to the police station, shocked. Upset. He returned to the hotel where the "policemen" met there match when the wife appeared. Many of us were horrified to see this poor man distressed but so happy to hear the tirade from his wife (who could give Peggy Mount a run for her money) and fellow swiss friends.

Another "scam" staring up is a Massage in the back room of the beaches. These used to be very good cheap and NO NONSENCE. Now in the last three weeks. As the men have their proper massage the girl very smartly yanks the pants down and plain clothed "policemen appears saying he demanded se$ and demanding 10, 000- or $50"

I'm planning my first trip there and this is enough to make me reconsider the coast as a mongering destination. I mean, how do you protect yourself from something like this?

That sounds terrible, hope this is not going to be habit-forming. Will be in Mtwapa on December. Never heard that storys before.

Kahama raised the rates – effective Oct 01. A Superior King Size Bed Room w / one bed now 4. 950 KES (before 3. 950 KES).

But IMHO it is still the #1 option at the Beach north of Mombasa:

WIFI sucks (sometimes it works, but most of the times there was no network available)

TV channel selection very poor. But who comes there for watching TV. LOL.
