I returned from Cartagena a few days ago, it is kind of a lull before the Christmas and New Years high season.
I did find time to make a few trips to Centro, and had a nice dinner at Fusion. It is moderately priced and is located somewhat near Cafe Del Mar. This is a great spot to bring a speacial date.
The Loco Gringo Restaurant in Laguito has undergone recent employee changes. The service is spectacular and has become a great addition to the Bocagrande / Laguito places to hang out and catch up with friends.
Juan Valdez coffee (Colombian version of Starbucks) opened one week ago in Bocagrande. It is on the corner of San Martin and calle 7 in Bocagrande (this is the main street in Bocagrande).
It has a large patio facing the main street in Bocagrande, so it is a prime spot to watch the scenery. This is also a great place to take a new friend or meet new ones.
Can you be more specific about these "reports"?
The consensus for the last few years, from dozens of reports, and my own personal experience, is that Mery is 100% trustworthy and will bend over backwards to insure you are happy.
If this is your first trip to Cartagena, Mery should be the least of your worries.
I have received several confirmations that the rumors I heard about Mery are true. She has already lost the majority of her apartments after getting caught stealing by some of the owners. The word right now is the other owners are all looking for a new property manager so very shortly Mery will no longer be renting any apartments in Cartagena.
I canceled my reservation with her since there is no certainty she will be able to provide me with an apartment when I get there. Juan Venturra is the person I am using now and he seems like a very likable guy. He has already taken over one of Mery's former apartments, and there is another guy named Micheal who will be taken over about a dozen of Mery's apartments.
There are also other reports coming out from clients who felt Mery was not completely honest with them. They are saying that they did not want to say anything before since everyone spoke so highly about Mery. Now that the shit has hit the fan there seems to be no end to the reports coming out.
It seems a lot of the people who wrote these gushing reports about how great Mery is were simply owners trying to promote their own properties. However, it is the owners themselves who are now coming forward to tell people that Mery is no longer representing them.
How fast things can change!

I will continue to believe regular posters who are known by people I know. I do not know Mery personally, but if she has a solid reputation, she has it for a good reason. I think it's obvious what your game is.

Just because I have not been a member here for long does not mean I have not been to Cartagena and does not mean I am not a member of other boards.
The fact is I came here to look for some other opinions since almost everyone is talking about Mery getting caught stealing. I had an apartment booked and now I find out she is no longer the manager of it.
All you need to do is look at Mery's webpage and you will see she only has a couple of apartments left.
One of the apartment owners has came forward and said she was fired for stealing.
On another board there are several people coming forward talking about problems with her.
You admit you do not know Mery yet post this lame response?
From what everyone is saying Mery will no longer be renting any apartments soon. You should find out what is going on before making posts like this.

Mery manages a number of very nice apartments in Cartagena. I've rented six seperate apartments from her over the past year; I've been able to rent from her on very short notice on three of those occasions. She's been flexible on a couple of personal requests I've had as well.
I've rented places from her in Sol de Caribe, Torre Centauro, Playa Mar and Marina del Rey. I was very happy with 4 of the 5 places, the fifth spot was not the best, but the price was low and she did not represent that place as anything other than what it was.
I believe the rumors you are hearing are just that. However, you may be able find other people in Cartagena who manage apartments to your satisfaction. Last month, Mery recommended I contact Juan Venturra when she was not able to help me, so as far as I can tell, he is a reliable person as well.

I have used Mery on many occasions and never had any problems. She was always more helpful. On one occasion I overpaid and upon realizing that I had NO issue getting the overpayment back from her. My experiences with her have been positive, I have no negatives to report.
Jeff999, you have some personal axe to grind against Mery or are you just a mark for Juan Ventura ? Bring forth these so called reports you claim to have.

I certainly am not an owner trying to rent an apartment, just a monger who appreciated her service.
