In terms of location, it was convenient as the bus terminal was nearby, many travel agnecies, and there are some haircut palces whose service may not be restricted to just cutting hair becaue there were women standing waving at passersby. I didnt go in though.
I think this hotel is GF becasue I asked a guy working in the hotel if he could get me a girl. He said he would, but he didn't. Instead I got a bike guy to take me to a Vietnamese place, which wasnt fun.

I’d told the airport taxi driver to take me to the Paris Hotel but instead he took me to Morakot. He begged me to have a look at the rooms, and I was foolish enough to let myself be pursuaded to set up camp there. No doubt they pay the drivers a good commission to lure tourists to them. The aircon was very crappy. I had a room facing the street and with the morning sun it turned into a real hothouse.

As regards location, you can get much better deals near Pasteur (Str. 51) and Str. 136, which is even closer to the bus terminal.

The hotel [b]IS[/b] girl friendly. No doubt about that. And they did offer me massage. When I asked them how much the girls charged for boom-boom, they told that this was between me and the girl. The massage girls (dressed in yellow) that I saw going up one night while I was sitting in the lobby were very goodlooking.

However, I must admit they never tried any scams on me. Maybe because that time it was mostly the owner and her son who worked behind the front desk.

Your mentioning of Morakot brings back memories of a cute and sexy waitress that I met on the first night in Sharky. After work we used to meet at Heart or Walkabout and go to Morakot from there. She was a real nympho. I’ve never met a girl with such an enormous sex drive. She would even wake me up at night for more, and expect an another round in the morning before she left. Good in the beginning, but after a few days it gets tiring.

How far from the action? Well, in PP the action is spread out. Get a copy of one of the free guides when you arrive. They have maps and bar / clubs locations marked.
For me the riverside location of Cozyna was good with loads of places to eat and drink nearby BUT in the evenings it is ALLWAYS better for a Newbee (for safety reasons) to grab a motorbike taxi or Tuk-Tuk rather than walk in unfamiliar dark streets.

Bars can vary from night to night and week to week but last year I enjoyed Street 104 bars (See my PP report of 22nd October 2008.)

It is possible, and pretty safe, to walk along the riverside to street 104 from Cozena in 10 mins or so but my recommendation would be ALLWAYS to take a motorbike taxi or Tuk-Tuk late night / early morning when returning to your hotel! It only costs US$1.00 or so.

Ah, what a coincidence.

I am now planning to visit PP for the upcoming long weekend. So I was doing RTFF on Cambo thread, and came across the hotel scam posts and thought I would add some comment from my last visit to PP in Feb 2008.

For this visit, I will stay only 2 nights. This is enough. There aren't many things to see in PP, and have done the touristy things already. So this visit will be solely mongering excursion.

I am still doing RTFF, but if anyone has any suggestion where I could meet a girl who would provide an illusion of GFE, it would be great.

If you take your time and talk to them for a while you'll find out pretty soon if there's a "click." They've never disappointed me but YMMV.

I've also had a very good time in PP with a "beer girl" (girls that promote beer in restaurants), so if you see them somewhere you may try and chat them up. The problem is most of them don't speak any English.

You can also try your luck just simply on the river front but of course it takes more time.

Back in Phnom Penh - visited Le Cyrcee after not having been there 3 or 4 years. Location on 49th St between Streets 130 and 136. This is about one block west of Norodom Blvd.

Is it my poor memory, or did it move to a new location? I thought I had been there, but maybe I was confusing it with something else... at any rate, it didn't look at al as I remembered.

Now to more important stuff. Walked in around 7:30 and was greeted by a pack of hungry hot girls. Must have been 15 of them waiting at the door for the next guy to enter. A few guys in the bar - at most 3. Some of the girls looked like they were 15 at most, but looks may be deceiving. Needless to say, I stayed far away from the ones who looked too young.

But it didn't matter. Two very nice looking girls chose me and led me over to the bar. I did not object. Selecting from the pack would not have given me any better - that was immediately evident. I liked their smiles, and as they sat me down at the bar, I was immediately treated to very nice searching hands showing me a little of what was to come (reminded me a little of Sophie's, alas). After one beer, we got down to negotiating, and the asking price was entirely reasonable - $40 was offered, and they took $35 for both, including bar fine... an additional $6 for room ($1 for extra condom) around the corner.

I can't remember the names, but that would be irrelevant, as there were so many cute ones to choose from. We had a very good romp for an hour.. including yum yum from both, boom boom from both and back to yum yum for cof finish. Nice. Next time I am in Phnom Penh, I will return.

By the way, I might mention that as I walked along Sisowath Quay late at night (around midnight) one night, I was approached by two street walkers about a lock apart from each other. Yum Yum as on offer, but I declined. I am pretty good at detecting transsexuals (yeah, don't we all think that?) and both looked borderline - not sure whether they were, though. I mention this, because I do not remember reading reports about transsexuals in Phnom Penh. Maybe I am just not reading far enough?

a few miscellaneous comments:

shanghai girls are mostly there looking for boyfriends. you don't have to live in pp to qualify, but you do have to convince them you are serious. a few will agree to p4p if you ask discretely where none of the other girls can hear, especially if it is an after-work meeting or involves a legitimate "date" first.

the girls in the hostess bars who don't go with customers fall into 3 classes, with some overlap, especially between the first 2 groups:
1) **** girls who are usually not allowed (by the bar) to barfine
2) virgins (supposedly) who are looking for a husband and/or an asian guy who will pay $1000+ for her cherry
3) girls who are new to the scene, often from a garment factory that has recently closed, and either too scared or not yet willing to accept being a hooker. these usually either quit after a month or two, or eventually come around. they are the only one of the three you have any realistic chance with. one who flat refused to go with me from bar 69 a few months ago saw me in another bar last night and immediately said she goes with customers now. it was one of the best nights i have had here.

brothels: (the standard ones like you see on streets 154 and 63, not higher end fishbowls): no matter what price they ask/demand/state, the real price is $5 for st for a westerner, although some of the old timers i know here still pay $3. assume someone is going to try to steal from you. this has been repeated numerous times on this board, but i see people still reporting it. don't walk in with more than $7, and don't let your pants or valuables out of your sight. i roll mine up and us them as a pillow, and even take them into the shower with me. if the girl is not available for take-out, she is most likely either **** or working there against her will. i don't believe the latter happens nearly as often as certain ngos like to make people think it does, but it does happen. this is the main reason i have stopped going to these places.

the going rate at le cyrcee for st is $15, but the girls will naturally start the bargaining at $20 or $25. i have walked there from the riverside and walkabout late at night many times and never had a problem, but that does not mean it is totally safe.

don't judge any town by what it is like during a major holiday. pp was deader than hell during khmer new year, so disregard most reports from trips during that period.

there several ladyboy street walkers at night in the area around wat phnom and the post office (the building st. 104 dead ends into), as well as drug addicts and girls who are too sick to work in a bar. i have never seen anyone there i would go with.

gfe for me has come just as often from a hostess bar girl as a freelancer--but i rarely barfine girls, so that may skew my results a lot. if i go with a hostess, she has either really impressed me, or i have run into her somewhere when she is not working, which technically makes her a fl, i guess.

business is way down. nobody from a hostess bar girl or freelancer has given me even the slightest argument in recent weeks when i have given them $10 for st or $20 for lt, except one complete ***** from heart who was actually way below my standards looks-wise, (when we met it was closing time and i was quite drunk). so far this week i have been with two absolute stunners, and both have happily taken $20 for all night. fwiw, i don't care for the mercenary attitudes of most viet girls here, so i go almost exclusively with cambodians. this may or may not make a difference price-wise (unfortunately, it definitely does make a difference when it comes to getting bjs.

beaver bar is now cheerleaders and under new ownership (andy and danny, previously owners of sizzlers), and while the new uniforms are quite sexy, the lights around the couches are now much brighter and the mileage available there is much lower.

secret bar was kicked out of their riverside location with very little notice, and are now in a much larger spot right next to wat phnom, near the 24 hour convenience store. i have not been in yet, so i don't know if the quality of the girls is still as good as it used to be.

i'm told the owner of mikado is finally out of jail, and that it has reopened. i got so used to it being closed that i keep forgetting to verify this, even though i am frequently in the area. hell, come to thing of it i rode right by it today and did not even look over.

the place that was sophies is now occupied and i see no evidence and have heard no rumors that it is a p4p place, so i think we can assume it is gone for good.

mermaids on st. 108 is under new ownership but still seems to have no attractive women--but it does have at least one ladyboy.

beer prices seem to be creeping up. more and more places are charging $2. this time last year, people were bitching about the places that charged $1.75.

[/quote]these "standard" places do not sound very appealing (sleazy). i would not go either. but what about higher end brothels and clubs? i'm just curious and looking to diversify my night time recreational activities on my next trip.

They're really miserable places, in my experience. Even back in their supposed glory days they weren't worth the visit. Even if you somehow manage to avoid the ripoff attempts -- and they always attempt to grab your pants in the room, and they always fight very hard to get you to pay up front before the deed -- and if you pay that upfront, you should expect that some way or another the deed is going to be extremely lame if it happens at all -- even if you manage to navigate your way through all of this, it's rare to get an experience in the room that would compare favorably to what you'd get almost anywhere else. That experience is highly likely to be very disappointing. And yes, then there's the sleaze factor. The place is filthy. You know the girl has been with X number of other customers today. You know she's not into it. She is likely not free to do as she wants. It's just bad all around. It would probably be better for everyone involved (except for the ones who benefit from the ripoffs) if these places didn't exist.

Totally agree. It's not worth it.
Once I went there with exactly 5$ and 2$ tip in my pockets.
Done the deed in a below average performance,

I lived in Phnom Penh for several years and became a regular afternoon (between my teaching classes) customer of "SONY" massage parlor (just around the corner from the Heart of Darkness). The girls could be hit or miss but I went there often so I learned which were the true gems.

Two or three of these gems were some of the best I ever had (in my life). Very attractive, fresh, full service, good performers, fun to be with, not whiners, sexy, very young (K11 had just been shut down and they were shipped into town from there), etc.

I was a regular so the mamasan always gave me a one dollar discount (I paid four dollars instead of the usual five). Or she would let me have two girls for seven dollars. And I always gave the girls a dollar tip each (and also occasionally to the mamasan and the guy out front who watches the motorbikes. And sometimes I would take in some fruit or candy.

I took lots of new customers to them, too. So they really loved me there, haha!

One of my favorites there "graduated" to the fish bowl over in the "New York" hotel, on Monivong, where she started dating on of the chefs. She phoned me on 2-3 occasions and wanted me to "break in" a couple of her friends who were new to the business. Of course I was glad to help her out, hehe!

One of the other favorites from SONY ended up as a "kept woman" for an older wealthy Japanese businessman at his ocean view villa just outside of Sihanoukville (she hated it but the money was too good to refuse).

I returned to Phnom Penh recently and visited SONY. All new girls and staff. No one knew me this time. Was told it would be $10 + tip, take it or leave it. I took it, regrettably, and the stunner (mistake! ) I picked was totally useless in all regards. So useless in fact that I couldn't maintain an erection. A very antagonistic encounter, to say the least!

But I had already paid in advance (unlike the old SONY) so I was a very unhappy customer.

So my point is that if you are a regular customer and know the girls/staff, there are some gems to be had at these places. Just use common sense regarding money, jewlery ripoffs, etc. ALWAYS keep your pants with you. In the shower, in the bed, etc. I never had any problems in this regard. And never take anymore than you would care to lose (just in case.)

You speak of way back if that's the time K11 was just closed. Situation was very different then.

Also overall I think street 63 and 154 should not be mixed. St 154 is still kind of OK as walking distance from tourist places. Prices tend to be higher and sometimes they'll even try to rip $40 for the younger ones. Many places on St 63 do not even allow foreigners in as sometimes some will make trouble for them, so they'll rather just rip off the few foreigners they'll let in. Service is usually terrible too. It's true that if you make some connections things may be different but will take time, trial and error, and usually would take more time than tourists typically have.

On the whole Cambodia is way down. No more Sophie, no more rooms on Circee, etc. You can still get very lucky though, but it may involve more energy than may be worth it. Nowadays I'll try to find the gems in Thailand instead. Thailand is crying out for tourists right now (unlike Cambodia) as Taksin fucked up the country, so possibly may provide better services.

Just to clarify...

I have never been in the 154 places, but have had the ripoff attempt happen at 63. I've also been refused service at 63 unless I paid upfront.

If the reports below in this thread were accurate, the same ripoff scams (stealing from the customer's pants while he does the deed) are now happening on 154. See quote below. 2 guys appear to be reporting the same scam being played at 154.

If these reports are correct, it means the proprietors of these places have chosen to have themselves 'mixed' in with 63.

But the important thing to know is that we have reports here that the 154 places are pulling the same ripoffs that the 63 places are. And if so, best to stay away.

If someone says that for him it's fine, and it took him awhile to reach this status, well, a business isn't ok if it rips off every new customer who walks in the door but will ease up on a select few. That rationale doesn't quite make sense.
