Rumours, but nothing changes much
Always best to be careful, as in any country:) But I wouldn't worry, things won't change much in Disneyland. Just the occasional club closed down, then other opens.
Also ridiculous rumors that Dubai will be dry (I. E. No alcohol allowed) from next week. I'll bet anyone a Double Jack this will never happen, for at least three reasons:
1. End of Dubai's service industry.
2. The profitable bottle shops are owned by the sheikh yabooties.
3. Easy enough (and cheaper to buy your fave drink) without a licence from the various mafiosa.
Not a rumor at all, just got the info, last week only 30 WG's from different clubs were deported, now most experienced WGs lay low profile this period. There will be a crackdown starting from next month on some clubs as well, they are upset from their behavior with the last national incidents, not a single club stopped one day as respect or even hotels lower any flags.
The last crackdown I remember was on 2011-2012 due to different reasons and ended up in turning most hotels red.
Now there will be another.
Other talk about closing down everything is rumors, only some ear pulling here and there.
Hello,
Anyone had luck with girls on the site which starts with Z and ends with A? Lots of numbers there.
Potential good company WGs at Champions Sports Bar
On September 29, I went to Champions Sports Bar at the JW Marriott in Deira. Got there at about 6:25 pm (the place opens for business at 6 pm) and was in the company of a visiting Russian gentleman. My main purpose was to urgently use up a voucher for a free bucket of 6 beers that I had as part of the Marriott Gold membership, and which would expire on September 30.
This being my first time, I was pleasantly surprised to see WGs there so close to opening time!
First, on a table towards the middle, and right across the impressive bar, sat 2 WGs, of African origin, each with a pint-sized glass of beer. Sipping slowly (but, atypically for WGs, not through straws).
Second, at a table right next to where we eventually sat, was a relatively pleasant-looking (but clearly early-40's or maybe late-late-30's) PRC lady. More surprisingly, she had opened a bottle of white wine at her table.
We asked for and were served our 6 free beers, three Budweiser and three Heineken, by Shaun. Plenty of ice in the bucket. And a generous helping of salted popcorn on the side.
A few minutes after that, the PRC at the table next to us was joined by her compatriot -- a definitely better-looking lady. She also ordered a bottle of wine, red. While serving her, the waitress (Filipina) asked her, more as a joke, if she wanted ice. All three ladies laughed.
Even later, yet another PRC, probably early 40's, and with a more "filled" figure (but not quite that plump) walked in. Stopped at the table next to us and the ladies seated there exchanged greeting and pecks. This new arrival then found a place at a table about 4 metres away from us, next to the swing-doors that lead to the restrooms, with her back against the wall, and strategically well-placed to scan the bar patrons. She also ordered a bottle of white wine.
Over that evening, the lady at the far table initiated conversations a couple of times when we returned from the restrooms. Reasonable with her spoken English, but quiet of voice.
Still later (just as we started our third bucket -- Shaun told us that the Summer Promotion till September 30 meant that Marriott Gold members got 50% discount for any and all drinks -- the normal discount is 20% So we took great advantage of that) our beer goggles had started kicking in and we started talking to the two PRCs right next to us. Again, their English skills were pretty good and while they never directly spoke about any business, as such, there were numerous questions about whether we were planning to go directly home or somewhere else. They did mention that later in the evening, two more of their lady friends would arrive. Although I cannot be sure what "later" means in this context since we left the place, and the ladies, at 2245, without the privilege of meeting their other friends.
While the apparent WGs were interesting, more interesting was how low-cost the evening turned out to be: 18 beers, 4 Patron Reposado Tequilas, and one helping of 3 Tacos (Taco Tuesday deal) and the total bill was AED 410.00. And in a relatively quiet and relaxed sort of bar with pool tables and dart boards too, and lots of TVs.
Based on the admittedly limited interaction, I think that the WGs here could easily be potentially good company. I felt that they were trying to differentiate themselves from others of their ilk. I am still not sure HOW hey manage to invest in a wine bottle for each person. I need to visit again next week to sort out that mystery. Maybe there is some Ladies Night deal on Tuesday or something like that.
In the meantime, Cheers *hic*.
What's going on in Dubai?
Hi all,
Being out of the country those days and planning my return in a few days, I tried contacting some regulars but to no avail. Which is quite uncommon.
I know they are very active on the scene in between Jules, Premiere etc. And considering what is being said on the Hotel thread, I wonder how the situation looks like.
Is it true most hotels are turning red? Even those we would have never imagined.
Is it true a serious crackdown in ongoing?
Thanks for your input and shedding some lights.
Have fun and play safe.
AC.
NB: to top it all, Steps is closed. (checked before leaving, around the 30th Sept. And a seal was on the door.
