The hotels have to copy your passport and visa information and record it. It is a law. But they don't keep the physical passport.

I have rented bikes many times and only used a copy of my passport. Same for hotel rooms. If you insist on doing things your way and giving total strangers the most important thing you have while overseas, then continue. Hope you never need it in a hurry.
My motto is money, credit cards and passport. Everything else is expendable.

As far as I am aware the hotel is required by Thai law to take a photocopy of your passport, as all foreigners are required to have their details passed onto the local police within 24 hours of your checking in.
Even when I am travelling in Thailand I keep a photocopy of my passport in the car and if requested produce this at police / army checkpoints and it is readily accepted.
I will be back in Pattaya in 4 weeks and am beginning to think about what I might try to do on this, my second trip.
First time, I got to know Soi 6 and WS pretty well, and even picked up a daytime FL or BR. But my experience with a MP was limited (a rub and tug in one place with no desire for more there), and my experience with discos was a brief stay at Insomnia (upstairs) which went bad, bringing back memories of my youth when I was a complete failure with discos.
But this time I would like to try Insomnia again (for the FLs), and also go to a better MP known for reasonably pretty girls, specifically a body slide.
As for discos, last time I was at Insomnia I failed to realize that the bar goes all the way back. I had simply parked my butt at the front where the host first seated me, near the speakers that could cause ears to bleed from the intensity. I supposed I should have gone to the back. Note that I am circa 60 why / o. I am still in good shape with most of my hair, though it is graying, but I don't know if my age might be significant factor against me from scoring there. It did not seem to be a deterrent with the girls on my first trip, but with Insomnia's FL, where I will be surrounded with the younger guys who will be there, should I even bother to go in? I am a nice guy, but I really don't like to drink alcohol, and while I will buy girls drinks and be generous, I won't imbibe beyond one or two drinks for myself.
And how late do I need to be there to maximize my chances? I understand that some of the girls who go there are office girls looking to make a little extra money, and I presume they would be there earlier but that they might be less inclined to go off with an older dude. And I understand that many of the girls there are bar girls who got off work, who show up after 2 am or so. So might I first go there around 10 PM, then if nothing go back after 2 am?
It does seem that the MO for Insomnia is to go to the back and look for potentially available girls and go to her. If she is not appalled by me, to then buy her a drink or two then inquire as to take out? Alternately, I can try to find a place to sit and make eye contact with appealing girls who happen to walk by, hoping they will stop to chat. Reasonable?

Now on to Insomnia. Upstairs sux. Stay downstairs at iBar. Go all the way to the back section and get a table. Go up to chicks at their table or call them over to your table. No need for any of that eye contact stuff. You don't have to order alcohol either. Get a club soda or a coke. Also, no need to buy drinks for chicks.
10 pm is much too early to go to a disco. We usually take a nap after dinner about 8 pm then wake up at 1 am to go. This is the same thing that the office girls you mentioned would do. They don't go early. They just take a nap before they go. Also, as you said, there are many girls who work at other bars who go after work and on their days off. The best money exchange I found is at the Southwest corner of Sukhumvit and Asoke, not even 50 m from the Skytrain exit. Today I exchanged € into Baht at 39.7 baht /€ which is quite good. At the airport (airside) it was 37.5 baht /€.

They are only in this game for their commission fee. The contract is strictly between you and the hotel.
But, that being said, no hotel will keep your passport. They copy the ID page and give it back.
I visited Sapphire a-go-go Saturday. Nice bar; nice atmosphere; pleasant experience; reasonably priced drinks; friendly staff; several seriously cute and smiling young hotties. Only one big problem though; they're all coyote girls; no nudity; none of them even show their tits. They're probably all agency girls. I didn't check the price of their bar fines, but if what I remember is correct, they're expensive. Too bad!

I am really curious about these two options you listed. Colombia vs. East Africa? Previous post you made you mentioned that your plan was about 70% of the days mongering and the others were split between touring and travel days. East Africa? Don't get me wrong Africa is either my favorite or second favorite place to go and that's why I go every year but it is not a mongering vacation spot at all. Yes they are places to get a girl but its more of a sidelight and not the main agenda unlike places like Rio, Medellin, Cartagena, Pattaya, Angeles City. And 30 days! Believe me after a week of twice a day safaris I could care less about seeing another damn animal. Africa can also be quite expensive if you want to stay somewhere nice too. Still a helluva place to visit but 30 days is way too long and mongering is hard to find.
I am leaving next week for two weeks in Brazil followed by two weeks in Colombia with the fall of the real and peso recently pussy is on a serious discount. If I were you I would consider something similar and save Africa for a side trip of your 100 day trip whenever you are able to pull the trigger.

I went dancing with a girl from there. I had a girl with me already who was her friend. That girl was not an agency girl. I also noticed in the club many girls who would not qualify as coyotes, as they did not have the looks. So, I guess it is mixed, just like many other clubs.
