Any recent report from Salvador de Bahia? I'will be there on October.

I'm booking the Hotel Pousada, which location is better? Pelurinho, Itapoà or Ondina.

Ondina should be nice.

Pelo is cool, but not close to any beach and full of ratty hustler f*ckheads that hassle the shit out of you. Great nightlife, but would not wanna live there.

Itapoa is cool, but far out. Not much action within walking distance, but great beaches and very chill. Close cab rides to Casquina, BomBarra, and Aeroclubbe, where you can find nice take-out. Tropicana club and Satellite Club are close too...makes the location pretty good and affordable.

Ondina is kinda blah...would not stay there. Private beaches and what not. Better off staying in Barra, which is cool, and close to action, but has some day-time diversions as well and a huge mall to find some nice takeout in on occasion.

So, I went back twice to Salvador last month.
I have to say that the most interesting spot for p4p is still the Casquinha do Siri restaurant, expecialy on monday.
I spotted even a true 10 there, I still can't forget her HAPPY 2005 shirt, and many 7 or 8 girls.

Salvador is a great place to visit during Carnavao (I was there in February'05), but the rest of the year would have to be pretty boring. Don't have anything in your pockets. The pickpockets are very bold, and will just grab anything you have in your pockets. Put your Reis in your shoe like the Bahians do. The women are farily forward, and if you like Chocolate. Well Bahia is the place to be! I was amazed at how clean the girls are. I think they shower three times a day! It's a relief to be honest, and if you don't have a condom forget about getting any. I tested a girl to see what kind of reaction I would get, and she said no way. I recommend getting an apartment, because the Motels/Hotels won't let you take a girl to your room. Bom dia

From what I can gather from the reports on this website, Barra seems to be the best compromise in terms of a nice place to stay in Salvador, some action, and safe. is that correct ?? Pelourino sounds like it would be a nightmare to walk around after dark, especially as it gets dark so early. One question, what is Aeroclube, a shopping mall or a nightclub ? If I am wrong, or if anyone has a better place for me to stay, please advise me. What about Itapoa, much action there ? Salvador has plenty of real black women, pretas. There are some mulatas too, but they're not the overwhelming majority.

If I was hunting curvy mulatas I'd choose RJ or Espirito Santo. Or even Sampa.

Yep, Barra is a good choice. Pelo is not so much dangerous as just frickin annoying.

Aeroclube is a shopping mall but there are a couple of restaurant / bar / clubs in its area.

Itapoa has a decent beach, and some mongering spots like Casquinha de Siri are at this end of town.

I have just come back from Salvador, and I can only say it is the shitiest city I have ever been in my whole life, in all aspects.

Barra beach is full of shit. black blokes waiting for the absent-minded tourist to trick you...plenty of prostitiutes making out to be they are not. Down market area where the sea food you can eat is very suspicious.

90% of women hanging around the touristic areas are prostitiutes. A normal girl "legal garota" would not go to those places and let alone go out with a "gringo" not to damage her reputation I´ve been told.

You will find regulars begers at the hotel front door aged 10 or 8 years old and if you are lucky they will stack to the restaurant window to ask you for food while having breakfast.

Perourino area is plenty of robers, hokers and beggers.

I can carry on with my personal anecdotes, but that does not come to the point.

Coupe66: I liked Salvador. (See my report #154 below.) While I did have a few problems in Pelhourino, I never feared for my safety and enjoyed the whole scene very much. I would go again and, yes, I would not miss going to Pelhourino on a Tuesday night. Rooms in the district can be rented cheaply so, in addition to having a regular hotel room to hold all my valuables/belongings, I would consider renting a cheap room in Pelhourino for a night. That way you can take a girl there for an hour of pleasure (or the night) without worrying about your possessions and without the hassle of taxi's or other transport - just a short stroll from the action. It should be easy to do several nice mulatta's in the course of one evening.

I took a bus out to Casquina one evening but was there too early. Even so, it didn't appeal to me much. Although the distance is long, I chose to walk back. Along the way, there were occasionally some people down the embankment from the sidewalk on the beach or at a beach hut. At one, I spied a lovely gal listening to music with some friends and stopped a moment to watch her from a distance. She saw me, waved, and lifted her skirt to show me her pussy. I considered this to be a friendly gesture, smiled, and waved back before I turned and continued walking on my way.

The shopping center (next to the rodovidaria) is a long distance away but, if you happen to be out that way, its a nice place and its air conditioned. Food courts, clothing shops, and young women are plentiful inside so its easy to while away a few hours there. I did not find any mongering opportunities in this shopping center but it might be a good place to meet cute local girls if you can flirt and converse with them in Portuguese.

also I didn't like Salvador very much but I guess your judgement has been too tough
the Barra area is not nice, I agree, and the Pelourinho is a place to avoid at night but Salvador has also many places to visit and many girls to meet
a lot of foreigners come every year to visit the city and decide to expat there
it should be some good reason, I guess

Hi there guys, thanks for all your reports !!!! Well I have been here since saturday, and so far have not even got close to getting laid !!! Amiki, I agree with you, the so called 'Best Western' San Marino hotel is a dump, I should know I am also stuck there, and from the first night I have been giving them some serious grief. What a serious shithole, Best Western my ass !!!!! They may have been 10 years ago but not anymore thats for sure.

Anyway, I could go on for hours of what I think of the place, but I could really do with some advice about how to get laid. There are hardly any street walkers worth looking at in Barra. There are plently of gorgeous women in shopping Barra, but middle class and certainly not trying to attract your attention. In fact I do not think I have ever been anywhere in the developing world where women try so hard to avert your attention. Im am 38 years old and told to be not bad looking, but hardly have attracted any attention at all. I should know, I have been trying !!!! I have met some very nice people here, but on the whole have to say they are a pretty miserable looking and unfriendly bunch compared to my experiences in Sao Paulo.

So back to getting laid, here am I going wrong ??? Sorry, but whoever said Barra was the best place to be needs their head examined, it is a boring dump !!! Are there any hookers, and I mean hookers, looking for business at the Aeroclub, so far I have only been there on Sunday night and did not see even one. What about any other beaches, areas ?? Do maybe more chicks go to the beaches further north because thats where the tourists with the money go ??? Yesterday I took the bus to Itapua and on the way area like Pituba and Pitacu looked much more lively than here. What areas are good for day action, night action ??? Does anybody know any decent nightclubs here ??? Going past on the bus I think I saw one on the way into Pituba from Itapua.
