Hi all,

Just planning a trip, first time for a while, even booked the flight yeah! It will be good to get back to Thailand for sure. Been approx. 10 years since last there.

Can anybody give me a heads up on the scene in Buriram, and also on Koh Chang? Will be in Buriram mid December for a number of days taking care of a little bit of business, and then off to Koh Chang to hit the beaches. On the latter I remember 'little Pattaya', and assume this still exists? Obviously I will attempt to stop in Pattaya for a night of so in-between, but would would be good to know what the options are in Buriram & Koh Chang and what to avoid.

I will add reports on the trip!

My first trip to Koh Chang was so long ago, that it had no roads and no cars, only motor cycle tracks in those days. Had various Gancha smoking settlements (no electricity at night only kerosene lanterns, no mobile phones). I took 3 girls with me, and we stayed in bungalows.

I want to go! Ha Ha. Actually, I went to Ko Chang in 2012. The island was verdant and pretty, but all the good beaches were fairly developed with hotels and there was a paved road around 3/4 of the island. Today I think you have to check out the smaller islands south of Ko Chang if you want that primitive, get back to nature kind of thing. I have heard Koh Kood, Koh Lao Ya, Koh Phrao Nai and Nok have pretty and fairly unspoiled beaches. One of these days I will check them out.

Ko Chang circa 2012: There was a cluster of girly bars that the local expats euphemistically called "mini Pattaya" at the south end of Haad Sai Khao (White Beach) on the east side of the island road. The bar girls were very friendly to me, but looked a little past their sale date if you know what I mean. There was also a nightclub / bar on White Beach called Sabay Bar. This odd structure looked like something out of the stone age with big faux boulders for walls. Inside there was a large open space with a saloon-style upper deck. They had live music on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Sabay Bar attracted mostly tourists, but I saw some FLs in there too. I assume that place is still around.

Further south right before you hit the next beach after White Beach, there was another group of small beer bars. I think every beach or village has a small group of beer bars. I don't know whether any of them have bar girls or not, but in any scenario I can imagine, I would not expect to find any young, walking street hotties hanging around. BYO girl is my recomendation for Ko Chang or go solo like I did and enjoy the beaches.

Shit for mongering for sure, I was hoping for a mass of gogos full to the brim with stunners LOL.

[/QUOTE]Having a quick look on google maps the very enthusiastically called 'mini Pattaya' is still there. Albeit dated 2016 on street view. And consists of about 3 or 4 small tin roofed bars huddled together, as you say run down and from what I remember there was only 1 passable girl out of 15 minutes. Sabay Bar is still there, and has been since late 90's and slowly developed. I suppose a stop in Pattaya on route is a good call for a couple of days to ease my tension, as meeting friends and family on the Island arrrrgh.

It works well if your single and want to go through with an actual date that's ends up with a great GFE experience. We chat has a lot of ladyboys to sift through in Bangkok. Based on what information I could find, I decided to explore around Grand hotel. It turns out the area seems completely dedicated to our Japanese friends and competitors nowadays. Still managed to organise an excellent ST, negotiating outside of one of the Japanese karaokes in front t of that hotel. A stunning 20 year old girl for 2500 be incl bar fine. They don't have rooms in premisses but can take you to a nearby 200 be hotel if needed. Bill a bit steep, I know, plus I had to pay upfront, which usually is against my principles, but I had no other options in sight so agreed.

I just arrived in Chiang Rai on a dreary rainy day. I selected the Wangcome Hotel as it's in the middle of what "action" there is. At about 6 PM I did a reconnaissance stroll on the streets around the hotel, and there's not much to see. I've been in Pattaya the past few days and didn't expect anything remotely close to that, but I was hoping for a bit more than I saw.

As mentioned in other reports, there a ton of massage shops in this area. I probably walked past 40 of them. Most had 2-4 older ladies in them, sometimes they were OK looking. I didn't see any young or pretty girls, but I wasn't looking that closely. I also walked past about 20 bars, that were mostly quiet. A few had 2 or 3 girls in them, again older for the most part. Most of the bars were just empty, or at most had a few western backpacker types in them. But it's not even 7 PM yet and just getting dark, so I'm hoping they pick up later.

Also as mentioned by others, Jetyod Rd has most of the bars and a lot of massage shops too. I also walked that little side alley that cuts off the corner between Jetyod and the main street, Thanon Baanpa Pragarn. There were a handful of small bars, but they were all closed with the garage doors pulled down. This looked to be the right area. I'm hoping that they open later tonight when I go back out. It is Sunday night here too, and it's still low season, so maybe this is as good as it's going to get. I'll try to follow up with more info.
