I just skimmed back six pages and 89 reports, back through October 28, and unless I missed something, no one except the Jeff boys have complained about Mery on this thread.

I also went through four pages and 59 reports on the "Cartagena Lists" thread, back to June 25. One of the Jeffs, Jeff997 trashed her (does he aways have to sign up with a different name to get back on?). Other than that, in one post NPaul1 questioned if she was paying the landlords in full.

No monger ever complained about her in all those reports.

A few very well known guys are saying this. I do not know, it has zero effect on me, all I was doing was saying that this has been said by some very reputable people that have been going there for many years. We need to wait for some input from somebody who knows like Tom33 but it is not just a rumor started by a newbie.

I am in MDE looking for an apartment to buy. I won´t be reading this site regularly until Jan. 21 or so.

Mery has lost the management of many apartments. However, I do not want to get into any whys or wherefores. I live in Laguito. Mery still owns one apartment in Laguito. You should have no problem renting that from her. I would have no qualms about renting from her. She is a very nice lady.

As I said right from the start, Mery has lost almost all of her apartments because she was caught stealing. This fact has now been confirmed by several members of this and other forums. You can all say I am not credible but the fact remains the other long term members are now saying exactly what I said from the beginning. It looks like I was right.

I am posting this information for a reason which is to benefit the users of this forum. I had reservations with one of Mery's apartments that got cancelled once she lost it. I only heard about Mery losing the apartment from another post. I then inquired to find out if it was true. It turns out that Mery did in fact lose the apartment but DID NOT tell me. So, had I showed up in February I would have been screwed! I am not happy about this. She should have emailed me to let me know she was out of business. Everyone else in this forum can benefit from knowing this information since they too might have a booking that is no longer valid.

Some people on here are saying what a wonderful lady she is. If you had a great experience in the past the congadulations. I personally would not stay anywhere that is being managed by someone accused of stealing. I am sure the apartment owners know her much better than any of the ass-kissing posters do. If the owners do not trust her then neither will I.

The reason no one complains about her service is because they will get attacked by everyone like what is happening to me right now. However, I believe to listen to the facts and not to insult other people.

I have been learning a lot about this whole apartment scam and feel I should expose it for what it is.

Yes, there are four apartments listed still on Mery's site that are owned by 3 different owners. The other 15 are already gone. However, Mery does not own the web site. The web site is owned by one of the owner of the apartment they call PM703. When you send an email to the site it is not answered by Mery but directly by one of the owners. I suspect that they are looking for a new manager right now but do not want to announce to the whole world that the person they entrusted their apartments to was a thief. The bottom line is Mery is out of business with the gringo owners.

Okay, I'm sure that the Senior members will probably also point out my low post count but I'm offering up this recent experience with no partiality. I'm going to Cartagena tomorrow and I contacted both Mery and Juan. It took Mery 4 days to get back to me and then when I responded, I still haven't heard back from her in over a week. Juan has gotten back to me the same day everytime I responded and even when one of my emails that I tried to send didn't seem to go through to him, he sent another email to confirm giving me instructions on address location how much to expect to pay from the airport.

I will post a follow up report to give you the final outcome when I arrive and have gone through the whole process but this is what I've experienced from both. Just the facts. I don't know either one and don't have any previous bias as this is my first trip to Cartagena.

Anyway, Mery seemed to always have a great rep and I'm not sure what's going on these days but I don't deal with the past, I deal with the here and now so for now, Juan is geting my business and if I come back and it looks like Mery has improved her communications and business situation, she will be contacted.

My impression is that Mery is successful in renting apartments in Cartagena, (I've rented three different places from her in the past month) and you would like to redirect her business to Juan Venturra. That is the underlying message you make.

You are attacking her character to move your message. As you know, in the United States we sometimes call that a 'cheap shot'. Personally, I am not insulted by the use of this kind of thing and, since it is often effective, I would not insult you for trying it on forum members.

Still, it doesn't add up to a serious argument. If you can break down for me how much money I will save by renting apartments from someone other than Mery I'd be interested in hearing about it. That would be a useful fact and part of a reasonable argument.

Again, another person tries to twist what I am saying instead of looking at the facts. I think I mentioned Juan perhaps once? Was it even in this thread? Obviously if Mery is not renting apartments anymore the customers are all going to go to Juan. I did not make it that way. He is the only other guy who has been renting gringo apartments in Laguito over the years.

I was not the person who made Mery steal the money. That was her own doing and now she must face the consequences. My own axe to grind is I did not like the fact she was not planing on telling me or anyone else that our reservations were canceled. She was planning on leaving us on the street.

One of the owners who caught her stealing posted on another board that he gave her an email to send to all the people who had reservations saying that they should contact the new property manager. Mery did not send out this letter to anyone. I do not care what personal problem Mery has with this owner, but she should have respected her customers and informed us that our reservations were canceled. That would have been the honorable thing to do. I guess though when you are a thief you have little honor?

How much money will you save? Well, that might all depend on how much money you leave laying around for her to steal. But the fact remains that in a short while you will have no choice but to rent from someone else. Mery is out of business.

Actually Jeff, there are a few others besides Juan. But I will agree with you, I also rented from Juan and from Mery. I also did not have any problems with Juan. The only drawback with Juan, was that he changes rates during seasons, eg: he gets top dollar during Miss Colombia etc, which is basic supply and demand, and I have no beef at all, where as Mery always charged me the same rate, regardless of season. Mery's rates were just about identical to Juan's regular rates, but Juan has Marinare # 802, which is one the best units. I do like # 703 in playa mar, which I believe at this time, until verified is still being rented by Mery.

Again Jeff, you are right there was an incident between Mery and ******, whom had several units that Mery was managing for him. Tom 33, has the best answer to all of this backing and fourthing. It is done with, and leave Mery alone, it is what it is and business relationships are like Virgins and Roses, They last while they last.................

Good point. Of course, the thing about apartments is that it's probably harder to find an one in Cartagena over the next three weeks than a woman or a rose.

I find it amazing and amusing that no one is really giving out any facts about what is going on with Mery. The only real fact I have seen posted is that she has lost many of the units that she was managing.

I will speculate a bit. Lets pretend I am a gringo who bought an apartment unit in Cartagena. I will use it for 4 weeks a year and rent it out for the other 48 weeks. I have Mery manage it for me. A year passes and I find that Mery has only managed to rent it out for 20 weeks. Since the unit that I bought is the best in Cartagena, I decide that something is wrong. I know what is going on!!!!! Mery is renting out my unit and keeping all the money. She is telling me that it is empty. She is stealing my rental money..

Well maybe.

Or maybe the demand for rental units is a lot less then the supply of units most of the time.

Now the Jeffs :-) sound like an owner of units that Mery was managing. At least to me. Years ago my family had a beach house in NC that we rented out for a summer with a realtor. The people in the house next door were personal friends. The realtor rented out the place a few times, told us that it had not been rented and kept the money. I know that I was mad as hell about that.

I know someone that owns units that Mery managed for him. So sometime I will ask him what is going on. But sometimes it is just fun to guess what is going on and then find out later how good your guesses really were

The facts are this:

1) She has lost almost all of her apartments from more than one owner.

2) The reason she lost them is she was caught stealing more than once.

3) Other people are now coming forward saying they had bad experiences with her.

4) I personally can say that she did not tell me that she lost the apartments so I would have been left stranded when I showed up in Cartagena.

5) One of the owners has posted that he provided Mery with a letter to send to people who had reservations informing them to contact the new property manager. Mery did not send out this letter which shows that she does not give a shit about the well being of the clients.

There are several facts and even more information is coming out each day.

These posts by Treeshark are pretty clueless. As I read them I am starting to wonder about the intelligence of the people here. Mery has been caught red handed stealing. She is losing all her apartments over this. These are undeniable facts. Yet, Treeshark likes to post imaginary posts defending her. I find the absence of logic here incredible.

Here is my little "guess". I guess that in about a week Mery will have to come forward and admit she has no more apartments. When that happens the people on here arguing will post comments like "well lets not talk about this anymore" instead of admitting how wrong they were.

Mery has one owner who I will call Mr. B who will continue to defend her to his grave. Mr. B will be the one single owner who still allows her to rent his apartment. However, he has publicly posted that his apartment is for sale so perhaps he is trying to get out of this situation as well. Some of the clueless people on here will say "hey she must be honest since she is still renting Mr. B's apartment"! However, every other apartment owner will have dumped her by next week.

I will also "guess" that there will be many new reports coming out by people who got robbed by Mery but did not want to say anything since bootlickers like Treeshark love to defend thieves using twisted logic and unrelated stories that have nothing to do with the evidence at hand.

Please try to get your facts straight before you post things that are unsubstantiated. You speculate as to what might happen when you show up this coming February and also state many things as fact that simply are untrue.

I have two apartments that Mery rents for me and I will soon be updating the website with all new apartments that she will have available, including 4 units in the new Mirador del Laguito building. Two of these units are completed and furnished for rental, the other two are in the final stages and will be available soon.
