I was planning on making a trip to Thailand. I was wondering when was the best time to go for mongering activities.

Looking forward to the trip, that is in the initial stages of planning.

Any help of a noob would be greatly appreciated.

Some believe the better time to visit is low season when the tourist crowds are less and you get a better pool to select from (albeit a slightly smaller pool) and some believe high season is better because of an increased number of girls. No matter when you plan your visit, Pattaya (and even BKK) will have lots to offer.

For how to go about planning your trip, please RTFF, lots of good recommendations by members on this board.

Tentative plan is for Mid Feb.

The small seasonal differences are nothing to get worried about.

The only time of year you might wish to avoid is around "Songkhran", the Thai New Year. Some girls will go to visit their family (but again, there will be more than enough still in Pattaya and Bangkok), but most that stay will just party and throw water around. That period of year will be bad for mongering, but fun for participating in the festivities.

Also, throughout the year there are various Buddhist holidays and then no alcohol can be served in the bars. Some bars will even close. But with some planning, this can be easily overcome: buy some beer the day before and stock your room's fridge and either get a freelancer from beach road or book a bargirl for LT already the day before. If her bar is closed, you will even save on the barfine!

Been there once and never ever will go again in Pattaya for Songkran.

I was just reading the report about visit during 'songkran'. I've also seen some videos of soi6-7 during sogkran on youtube. I'm planing to visit pats in the last week of March or first week of April'16 and in either case I'm leaving before April 10th. So that there won't be any problem.

In short we need a ride for two from pattaya at 8-9 am which will show us above places and leave us at BKK by 5. 30-6 pm.

Does anyone know any such travel operator? Any idea of rental car tarrif? Preferrably honda city or corrola.

This is an old report. Around June 2015. I was active on another pattaya forum and I saw that DD was highly recommended on that forum. [/QUOTE]I have been hoping to plan my trip to coincide with Songkran. Arrive the day before it begins and then stay 2 weeks and celebrate my birthday.

I'm not really interested in a straight mongering vacation. I'd rather split my time between playing tourist and mongering. Songkran just looks like a fun, messy experience.

I think the tourist venues open at 10 am. The best thing to do is to take a taxi to the airport and leave your things in the luggage room. Then take a taxi to the Grand Palace. The temple of the Emerald Buddha is actually inside of that complex. When you finish there you will take another taxi to the next place on your list. Then when you finish that back to the airport. No need to keep the same taxi. Taxis are plentiful and cheap. Plus there is really no place for the taxis to wait for people.

What I really recommend is staying in Bangkok the night before your sightseeing so you will be well-rested instead of rushing trying to get out of Pattaya that morning. Also get a late check-out so you can at least shower before your flight back home. You are sure to do a lot of sweating in Bangkok.
