Because they did not want parasites like yourself who would vote themselves money, the only people allowed to vote were landowners. It was not racism. They wanted people who had a stake in the long term outcome of the country.

My father was born in another country and I have citizenship there. The problem is that it is not a desirable country. Thing is if I married my Colombian gal, I would get Colombian citizenship and be able to live in most of the desirable places in South America. I have not put a pen to paper and done the calculations, but I suspect if I were to quit working and was in a situation where bond income was not taxed, I probably would be better off abroad. If you set up a holding company in the Bahamas, for example, and claim that the income is made there, then you pay no taxes on it. If you looked at it from a purely financial point of view, yeah, that would work out better. Even foregoing all I have paid into social security, I would come out ahead.
Unlike the idiots here who think that government bonds can never be defaulted on or debt can be eliminated with the stroke of a pen, I know all debt can be defaulted on, even USA government debt. So if I renounced my citizenship and needed to work again, I would be stuck. And the lawyer made the case that a government can call on and draft its citizens to do whatever. Being under the thumb of those knucklehead leaders in Colombia or Latin America is not something I would cherish. Those fools make a demented Biden look competent.
What amazes me is that dumb asses like Spidy do not get is that if people like me did leave, and honestly you can make the economic case for it, the days of his free money would come to an end. Of all the issues with the USA, it is still the best country to earn a living in. I am not sure how long that is going to last, and while Biden was giving citizenshp away for votes, Trump knows what a valuable resource being an American is. I think Trump has allowed people to buy American citizenship for $5 million, and you could make a case for some people it is worth that. With my gal and her daughter, I would be able to set them up in the USA and that is the other issue I have to confront. What is best for me versus what is best for them.
But I do have a place in Colombia, and there are things I like a lot more there than in the USA. I remember the days when just trying to get news on my sports teams from abroad was murder. Now with the internet, you can not only get the scores, you can watch the games.
