The answer to that question would depend on whether the so-called Doctor really does know so, e "important people" and, if so, who they are. I'd advise the friend to find out the doctor's name, find out the hospital with which he is supposedly affiliated, and try to contact the doc at his office in the hospital. If it's a scam either the doctor whose name has been stolen won't know what the hell the guy is talking about or, more likely there is no such person. In short, before coming back here I would first assure myself that this is a scam.

As far as the doctor knowing people, even if he did do you think said people would go around flexing muscle over a lousy 8000 pesos? Just another reason not to give fly by nights your real name or take any pictures with them. And people have the nerve to call Filipinos stupid or uneducated. They may not be able to name all of Jupiter's moons, but they damn sure have enough street smarts to scam foreign marks to no end.

To me, more than likely she is still pregnant and just scamming him. The big question is can he be deny entry or deny exit with a questionable bill outstanding? Looks like no without a court judgement.

Personally I carry extra SIM cards to get rid of pesky texts and callers.

It reminds me years ago right after the Haiti earthquake friends of mine would get the same scripted emergency medical requests. Relentlessly they would email the dire requests. It was after comparing the sentence structure, wording, spelling and grammar that you could easily conclude they were written by a few different writers.

They were very good at it, tugging away at the heart strings.

He did not receive any services nor did he sign any papers saying he was liable for any bills. You can not just walk into a place and assign a random person responsibility for your bill. And even if he did, immigration is not a credit / debt enforcement agency. They have bigger fish to fry. Half the world that travels now would not be able to if it was dependant upon whether they had paid an 8000 peso debt or not.

Also a country is not going to hold you hostage if you are not in jail for criminal charges. If they do then you pay a visit to your local embassy.

There are two parts to the project and new projected completion is April, so likely September. It links terminals 1, 2 , 3 to the existing Skyway and to each other, so yes commute time within the short distance will decrease. For going to AC from terminal 3 it will matter little and from the other terminals it'll cut time 10-20 minutes.

The important one is Skyway project 3 that will link South Luzon Highway (aka SLEX, Osmena Highway) to North Luzon Highway - I've attached a map. Resorts World (not on map, across street from terminal 3) to Buendia can be as fast as 10 minutes using the Skyway presently. Once project 3 completes one can bypass EDSA and skip all that traffic in Pasay, Makati and QC. Est. completion date is Jan '18, so likely Jan '19.

BTW, the attached map says the transit time from Buendia to Balintawak is 15 minutes, but I don't think that's likely for a taxi without electronic toll payment system installed. There are to be several toll plazas along the route. Likely Uber cars and private hotel transport will have it installed.

Just bit the bullet and booked my flights to NAIA. Given the 6:50 pm arrival time, I am fully prepared for sitting in traffic for several hours. Hopefully I can get into AC before midnight and make the most of the evening!

Among other things she told me she had a 18 months / 2 yrs old baby from a Northern European man, who had signed birth certificate as father, and has been sending P5000 per month baby maintenance since day one. Proudly showed me the photo of her chubby (well fed) daughter. That was already enough for me to decide not to bar fine the charming lady sitting next to me, LOL.

She wanted more than P5000 per month, he did not agree. She organised through a lawyer / solicitor / barrister (take your pick) that this same person be apprehended at Manila airport on arrival upcoming trip, and forced to attend court to discuss the matter. She had a copy of the papers. Well prepared. Possibly legal representative gets a cut of the increased payments, LOL. Poor lad, he didn't know he would be stopped on arrival at the Airport. Walking into an ambush. Was it you?

Your real name and nationality should be kept a secret. Admittedly, hard to do when the Hotel Front Desk insists on passport, to which they photocopy or record basic info. Does anyone have a way around that?

[/QUOTE]Correct and unless the girl is politically connected or has the cash to pay for it she won't get a court to file charges; or "raps" as they're called. And BOI won't otherwise get involved.

The easiest way for your friend (really you?, LOL) to find out if there are any criminal / civil charges filed against him, or if he's been blacklisted, is to apply for a 59 day visa a few weeks before his next visit. The cost is minimal and whether or not he really needs it is irrelevant; it's only to find out his BOI status without drawing attention to himself by specifically asking about said charges.

This is simply a scam attempt and nothing else. She most likely tries this out from all her bedders from the certain timespam and who knows, it wouldn't surprise me at all, if someone pays up. I would maybe change my location on my next visit though just so he doesn't run into her as that could be stingy. Next thing i would do for keepin peace of mind was to change my number if texts or calls are to many. Others than that, nothing to worry about.

Sometimes they do not ask for a passport, but if they do they only copy it and staple the papers together. They don't look at it. A couple of weeks ago at the hotel I stay in in Manila they didn't even ask for ID; they only asked for payment.

I left my US passport at office in Manila I told them at Devera hotel at AC I only have my photo HKID and US driver lic, but in any hotel in Thailand or China and many other country they must have a stamp Passport with arrival card.
