I had booked cab through VR Taxi, costed me 1300 baht for pick from Hotel Mermaid to Pattaya. I was staying at Whitehouse condotel on Soi 13 for 4 nights. I had booked a Deluxe Suite room and paid approx. 3200 baht per day. I checked in around 2. 30 pm. The accomodation was very good and I had a Living area with a sofa set, Bedroom and Toilet with Bathtub and separate shower area which I always prefer at my disposal. There were two balconies but only the one attached to living room had seating arrangement. The kitchen area was very spacious and had a mini dining table with chairs and full sized refrigerator. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Not too soft or hard, just the right feel to get me into a deep slumber. Wifi speed was amazing and no dropouts in both the rooms including bathroom. Plush accommodation with an apartment kind of feel. The room had an old style lock and key which had to be deposited at the reception every time I left room and collect when I came back. An inconvenience but also an advantage compared to the plastic swipe key system as both AC remained switched on even when I locked and left the room only to come back to a prechilled room. The reception was manned for 24 hours so I never had to wait or face any delay. All girls were compulsorily registered and their ID card was deposited to be returned when they left. I always got a call whenever the girl left the room. The hotel is in a quiet Soi hence no sound or music to disturb you during day or night. Liked the silence despite being in the heart of the city. It was a very small walk either to Beach or Second road.

I found few drawbacks though.

The towels were quite old and looked worn out. I asked for some extra towels which were provided to me without extra charge. Courtesy of a 100 baht tip to the housekeeping staff which I did even at Mermaid in BKK.

Toiletries were extremely basic. I always carry my own hence not an issue.

The rooms don't have a good view. Mine was on the 5th floor and facing the condo besides, no view at all. The best view one will be able to get will be of soi 13.

No late checkouts. If one desired to stay more for few hours than 50% of the room cost would be charged.

No breakfast was included even at this cost of the room.

No bathrobes in the room.

The room reeked of smoke. I am a smoker hence was not an issue but nonsmokers might find it inconvenient. The earlier guest seem to have blatantly ignored the no smoking in room rule.

I knew some of the above when I had booked and was ok as I preferred a bigger and plush room compared to sea view or pool view but small room.

I left for Rasputin around 4 pm. Took the baht bus from second road and was there in 10 minutes. Pattaya indeed was not very crowded and never did I once get stuck in traffic except for one time while going to walking street.

It was only a couple of years ago (2013) that I remember the Soi Six price was 700 bt for the girl and 300 bt for the room. Now the price is 1000bt plus 300bt. A thirty percent increase. Many Soi Six regulars protested the rate increase at the time and vowed they would never pay it, but guess what? 1300bt is now pretty much the rate except possibly for a small number of well known ex-pats living in Pattaya.

But is anyone contesting or trying to negotiate the price or are you just accepting it and moving on? I reported in July that after I tried to negotiate 600 baht, a girl in King Kong said mamasan would not let her take less than 800.

What we have all witnessed for the last 20 years is a phenomenon that no matter how high the asking price for girls goes, aggregate demand for pussy either remains the same or even increases. This is economically fucking amazing. But one thing is for sure; at some point the fundamental laws of supply and demand will kick in and increased price WILL finally have a negative impact on aggregate demand. The problem is no one can predict accurately when the breaking point will occur or how high ST rates will go before it does. I for one will not be surprised if we see 5000 bt for Go Go ST in 5 years. I know - amazing right! But in fact I was very surprised this fall when for the first time I was hit up with a 3000bt ST offer in a very popular Go Go. Here's how it happened: the girl, who I was getting along with fine, called over the mamasan to discuss the barfine and her price. I learned quickly after that to privately discuss price with the girl and to leave the mamasan out of it. But I see the future and predict that by the end of this high season Go Go ST will be moving up to 3000 bt in many popular Go Go's. That's 700bt barfine (in some Agency Go Go's as high as 1500bt) + 3000bt ST + drinks. We live in amazing times.

Should also consider the downturn in the economies and exchange rate of the major players who visit Thailand (China, Japan, Russia and the euro dropping). What effect will that have on excessive asking prices? 4000 baht is a huge price to pay when you consider the number of girls at the nightclubs who will take 2000, beer bar cuties who jump at 1500. If I really like the girl I'm willing to pay the extra on the first pop but when she comes over again after not making enough money the next night or two I cut that amount down.

Also, the world population is growing fast (although the growth rate has dropped now to 1. 13%) and scores of young men who have never experienced Thailand will keep the demand end taut. Divorce rates are up (EU at 44% Divorce: Marriage, UK at 47% and USA at 53%) which means more lonely middle aged men looking for "true love". Yep, demand is here to stay.

Young men who cannot get laid in their own countries will dish out the asking price willingly. These men can never dream of getting laid with a sexy GoGo chick at even twice the price back home. They have pulled the language card on me a few times before I start to reveal my Thai language capabilities. While some mamasans are really nice, most are greedy fat bitches who will rip off a regular customer without batting an eyelid. Again, possibly demand. Supply economics at play.

My best estimates put it around 30 - 50% of the lady drink cost. I have tried this approach too, not at Soi 6 but at some of the open bars at WS, 2nd Road & Soi 7. I ask for my drink, find a real pretty face and "I barfine you" in less than 10 minutes at the bar. Its not a big deal IMHO.
