This is my first post. First of all let me start by thanking all the members that have contributed to this forum.

I would have never been able to monger the way I had mongered on my recent trip to Jakarta.

I'm a regular In Thailand, the scene there is so easy because everything is out in the open but in Indonesia (Jakarta) it's a little different. *.

So I felt obligated to write a report to help others planning a trip to Jakarta. *.

Approx 10-15 min taxi ride to Hotel Classic, Travel and the same the north to RoyalVIP, Royal, Starmoon bar. Anyway took a shower went to a restaurant in City walk (shopping center) which is right next to Holiday Inn hotel and then took a little nap because I was exhausted from my trip. Just a food for thought, Why not make a short trip to Jakarta from Manila for 4/5 days just to test the water. By then, you will have some sort of idea of how things work in that part of the world. Cebu Pathetic (Pacific) has daily flights from Manila to Jakarta. Budget airline but not bad compared to PAL / Garuda.

Your first line up will be to purchase a Visa on Arrival if that is required by your country. That line up is never long. They collect your money and you get your Visa on Arrival. The next line is likely the one you are referring to. You will see signs that say Foreigners. That line is super slow and can be very long. There are also many machines to your left. I lined up for nearly an hour once in the Foreigner line cause I figured I'm not from Indonesia so I'm a foreigner. When I got to the front of the line the IO just rolled his eyes at me. He pointed to the automatic machines and laughingly tells me to not waste his time because I didn't need to line up in the Foreigners line. I assume it's because I got a VoA. My advice is always try to use the machines first.

Now here is the sucky part. If you end up lining up for an hour in the Foreigners line up you will notice your luggage will be missing when you try claiming it. You have to walk back to a room at the BEGINNING of the baggage carousels and prove that they have a piece of your luggage. I didn't know where it was so walked around and around until I found it.

If you have a e-visa already with you, move to immigration directly which can be late sometimes. Also, there is a customs declaration that you have to make digitally. Connect to the Wifi CUSTOMS DEC, scan the QR code that is displayed all over the place, fill up your details and keep the screen shot of the QR code that is generated after submission. Scan this QR code at the customs exit post baggage collection.

Download GRAB app before you go or after your arrive for local transport, Food delivery which is very convenient.

Also, I have never had a line for VOA either. For me CGK has always been a smooth experience flying in. Flying out with Air Asia though is a confusing mess. Multiple flights from the same gate at the same time, no clear announcements etc.
