Would be just like telling a tourist in NYC that the city is safe enough, especailly if you stay in the Manhattan area, however, if you venture out towards Bonehead"s place near Kennedy Fried Chicken in the BX, you may find it a bit more dangerous and beware. :)

And really, what is there to do out in the barrios? I've strolled around Bello, and up around where the cablecars are during the day, which is fine, and nobody has ever bothered me, but there really isn't anywhere that I'd want to go. Colombianos want to go where the action is, and that is PL, Ave 33 and Envigado. I've been invited up to the barrios, and been there, but there'd be no real reason for me to stay.

As a retired NYPD Detective who worked in Manhattan for most of my career, you would be safer in parts of the Bronx than Midtown Manhattan. Muggers are going to go where the hunting ground is better. Midtown Manahattan has a transient crowd and a lot of tourist so your chances of getting robbed is much higher. Don't get me wrong, you can be robbed or shot in the Bronx also but the Midtown South precinct is staffed with approximately 600 police officers because of the varierty of street crime that takes place there. So when people make fun of the Bronx, they should be aware that in the past eight years crime in the Bronx has been on a decline. Now that we are in a recession/depression I know that crime will increase in all parts of New York City.

I live in Medellin and I have a business here (check out my other posts if you want to know what kind of business), so I'm obviously biased, but let me tell you what different friends told me about Bogota and how it compares to Medellin:

The Climate

The climate in Bogota is A LOT colder than in Medellin, because of the higher altitude. In Medellin, the temperature is juuuuust right all day and night all year around. Not so in Bogota.

The People

I've also been told that the people are a lot colder in Bogota (can that have to do with the climate?) and not as friendly.

The Entertainment

I also heard that there is not as much entertainment as in MDE. Bogota seems to be more of a business town, whereas MDE has two faces: People are busy with work from Monday to Wednesday, but from Thursday to Saturday the town turns into a party town, and Sunday is quiet and dedicated to the family. So it's important to be in MDE from Thursday to Saturday, if you want to do more than just hitting the casas. Very few options on Sunday, BTW.

The Scene: Just browse this site. Plenty of good info.

Where to Stay:

I would always recommend staying in Poblado, ideally walking distance from Parque Lleras, where the majority of the nicer restaurants and clubs are. Taxis are cheap here and they don't rip you off, but they can be a bit annoying. Better if you can just walk around. If you're fluent in Spanish and you like to explore "off the beaten path", you might also want to check out Belen, Laurelis or Envigado.

Safety:

Medellin is relatively safe. Especially in Poblado there is a lot of security. I feel safer here than in many American cities. Still watch out and don't be stupid. The other parts off Medellin are a bit less safe, but you should be fine in Belen, Laurelis or Envigado, too. I wouldn't advice you to stay in the Centro. Even Colombianos avoid the Centro, especially at night. Unless you're REALLY up for an adventure.... Also stay away from Bello unless you have a Colombian wing man and you really know what you're doing.

Help me out players. I am scheduling a trip to Colombia BUT am not sure which city to stay in (Bogota or Medellin). At present time I am only going ot be in Colombia 6 days so I would like to spend my time in one city working the non pro angle and pro fun. I am trying to schedule a 12 day trip BUT with the economy so out of wack, 6 days is affordable at present time.

SO here is the question gents! Which city would you recommend for non-pro and pro action Bogota or Medellin? Consider prices of girls and hotels, where is the best non-pro action (clubs) and best looking woman.

weekly report! i did go to "mangos" saturday night with one of my guests and 3 non-pro college girls, but you'll have to email me for those pics!

this report is for thursday night (march 19, 2009) on my own!

went accross the street from my new place satellite on clle. 33 at about 10pm for a couple of beers at $1,400cop each! checked out "carboncitos" disco down the street, but it was a slow rainy night! decided to drive over to "maracaibo" striptease club in el centro! they are still closing at 1am, will start 3am closing after april 21st! stayed for a little over an hour! enjoyed 4-5 hot strippers and had 3 beers and invited a "cutie" for a drink! my beers cost $4, 000cop, her drink was $5, 000cop for a total of $17, 000cop! over a dozen police came in to search the place to make sure there were no **** girls and for safety reasons! they are big on safety here!

during the search i decided to go back to casa los angeles which is right down on the second floor from my place satellite on clle. 33! asked for viviana, a true hot blonde which i had seen going up the stairs earlier! we sat and drank for about 1-2 hrs. before i payed the $25,000cop room fee and $50,000cop for her company for one hour! late night casas are a little more expensive !

since my new place satellite is right up the stairs, teresa (owner of casa los angele) let me take her up! she stripped down immediately and kept the light on while i enjoyed her beautiful legs and enjoyed the rest of her white-pinkish body and other attributes! we drank rum and 7up while i played with her body and did all kinds of fun stuff to it (use your imagination guys), no back door entry though! she said she was a virgin in that department, but most say that anyways! she stayed about an hour and a half with me playing around and drinking! gfe was average, some light kissing! we went back down to "casa los angeles" where she sat down and continued drinking with me for another 1-2 hrs. it was almost 7am before i hit the sack, and after teresa made me breakfast! there were some other wild girls there having some kind of an orgy with 2 guys, a pilot and a young guy! the girls kept comming out half naked and flirting with me! i grabbed one of their nice big asses while she was flirting with me! i asked viviana not too get mad or jeolous as i'm a flirt and like variety! she said, no problema!

i spent around $75,000cop on drinks with viviana at "casa los angeles"! total for the night was around $170,000cop for the whole night (9 hrs.), about $85us! it was great for an all night out on my own! this was truly a "medellin paradise" experience!

I think you should do some research on the word gringo.
I was in Cali this last weekend and was with a group of Colombians at a baseball event and the word gringo came up, we were all drinking and I asked what they all throught of gringo's, one guy stood up and said and I quote, remember its not me who said this,
"los gringo's no tiene madre"!
The hole group laughed including me and as I new the true meaning of what it means.
