Medellin Reports

I hopped on today to read through the MDE forum and decide whether or not I (of low Spanish fluency) and my buddy (of no Spanish fluency) should avail of a guide's services while in Medellin / feel safe walking around by our lonesome -- to give you a quick background we're late 20's / early 30's, non-White, and aren't unfamiliar with high murder rate cities (in no means is that bragging, it's actually kind of a bummer), which I've heard makes us a bit less susceptible to gringo crime as long as we dress down. We were unable to get the Mansion for the days we're in town, and settled on a comfortable well-rated penthouse in Parque Lleras; upon initial look-throughs of the thread, it seemed pretty clear that Medellin could be an unwelcome place without a guide and non-fluent Spanish, but as I've gone further back (and apparently within the last 48 hours LOL), I notice a lot of disagreement on the usefulness of a guide in MDE, and whether the cost: value proposition makes sense for one.

I suppose my question is this; if we keep our wits about us, stick to Uber and just walking around the well-traveled parts of Poblado and Laureles, would we be alright to do Medellin by ourselves? If it sounds like a no-go, does anyone have any strong recommendations as to a good place to start in terms of looking for a guide? Given his amount of posts in this thread I've naturally already looked into Colombia Jake, but I'm generally of a mind to shop around when it comes to things of this nature. I've already gotten a lot of helpful information for planning my trip on the CO boards, so I guess "thanks again" is more appropriate than "thanks in advance".

I was in a situation similar to you when I went to Medellin in 2007 (I think. You can search for my posts! I stayed in one of the Mansions (Robert's penthouse, he's the partner in crime with Aussie Greg). Robert was fantastic. He was the guide for us (free of charge) took us to places we'd never have found by ourselves, and invited girls to the penthouse. Short of staying in mansion, which you say. You cannot do, I highly recommend having someone take you around. I am assuming you are going for the "hobby. " You will need someone to take you to good places where you can find good looking girls and the places are also safe. I don't know what Medellin is like now but I went there I did not feel unsafe. Of course, I didn't wander the streets at 2 in the morning either. The other option is to hangout at the mansion even if you are not staying there and you'll have access to the girls (not sure if that's kosher, but I have read here that others have done it). Just my thoughts. Others may disagree with my opinions. Which is fine because it's been some years since I have been in Medellin.

One of them (or more) are sure to fit your tastes. An hour or two of research would make a guide unnecessary. Casas in the day, strip clubs at night, and if you're treating yourself, a few high end brothels at night. It's only intimidating for those who've never been.

Things finally came back on Jonesie after rubbing the Medellin casa community wrong for too long! These casa owners here in Medellin don't like it when people come in and start.

He finally wore out his welcome with a lot of people including myself. He got what he had coming to him after writing reviews of the girls sexual proformances and invading too many girls privacy! The girls are poor and come from tough barrios and are connected to people who can end your life. 1. You can't just hang around the Mansion without being a guest of the Mansion. They sometimes let you pay to get into special events....and that is only because Roberto is maximizing his intake at La Cuerva.

2 Uber? I would just get a cab, they are cheap enough.

3. Just hang around Park Illeras, from what I understand, putas are hanging out there now looking for you.

Take the Metro or a cab into Centro during the day for casas, though they can be a little hard to find sometimes.

After complaints from the few guys that did try his place out, I told him his thing wasn't a fit for the site. He persisted, and eventually got banned. He's been whining and talking out his ass ever since. Since this is the only site he hasn't been banned from, here we are.

I've not personally seen his place, but the common gripe was there was one bathroom shared by 4 rooms, and dirty towels. Common complaints about the 'introduction / dream date' are they already met the girl on the Mayorista or San Diego streetwalker area. This is only what I've heard. But heard consistently.

If you were reading this thread trying to gather info on your Colombia trip, sorry you had to see this shit-show. I too would rather have not been in this conversation. Boyd called me and told me Jay was talking shit here, so curiosity got the best of me and I came over to see what silliness he was up to this time.

I post pics, and allow others to do so, so that the reader gets an idea of what's available and knows what to expect. Every so often, a girl complains about it, and I take it down. Otherwise, I've never had any issues. There are some who don't agree, and that's fine. They don't have to look.

Jonsie also goes out of his way to help out newbies and conducts tours of all the casas and has created his own map. He really puts a lot of effort into his site and tries to cultivate a community.

It may not be 5 star quality hotel, but its every bit as good as most of the places guys live in the states and nobody seems to be complaining, because I keep getting a steady flow of repeat customers and my reservations are looking good for the next two months, another words I'm doing well, which seemed to start just after I stopped posting with you, so that's the end of that story! The girlfriends my goodness, you have the audacity to take a shot at them though you've never even seen one much less been out with a girl end of that story. Finally the reason I'm still here is because Jackson gets it, competition is good for everyone, unlike the way you do business! The End! Time to get back to work its been fun!

Sure, we have different ways of doing things. It would be easy for me to say "Well, I'd do this differently if I owned ISG". But I also realize that many of the ways this site is managed is because of its size, and would difficult and time consuming to duplicate my method for so many large sections.

As for the for and against of photos. I believe posting photos is the best way to get an idea of what you want. When I was a newbie, I was researching to see where I wanted to go based on pics. I was able to rule out quite a few destinations based on what type of girls they had, based on pics. If some guy had a thing for chubby girls, and didn't post pics, he could write a report saying "Went to American Samoa, and saw the best looking women in the world". If I bought a flight and landed in American Samoa to find massive looking chicks, I'd be pretty bummed to have gone to so much trouble for nothing. That's why pics matter.

I don't know what happened or didn't happen to Jonesie. I read his site and like the content. I was surprised at first at the number of pics posted but shrugged it off thinking the site doesn't have as many active members as this one and so would stay "under the radar" so to speak.

I think Jonesie is trying to do a valuable service by showing what kinds of girls you can find in the low-end casas, although I do realize posting the pics is technically in some cases a violation of privacy.

But I'm not going to pile on him. The legendary Cubanut used to post hundreds of pics, although towards the end of his run, he posted only clothed girls posing in a non-compromising context.

By the way, I've seen Jake's site and there's pics of girls on it too. His shutterfly page has nearly 200 pics, some of them of girls in a compromising and provocative context. Should I assume all gave consent to have their pic posted online? But this isn't meant as an attack, just trying to be fair.

But my main point is pics are important for sites like this one and Jonesie's and Jake's. We're guys. We need the visual stimulus. Info and advice is NOT enough, we need images to inspire and animate us. Once you've entered this world, pics (or videos) of photoshopped models and porno stars just don't cut it anymore. We're looking for the real thing. We WANT to see pics of real live women you can have sex with for money!

To preserve the value of sites like this one, we should be discussing ways to post pics more securely instead of sniping each other. Sadly, it looks like we'll all have to learn to use photo-editing software so faces can be blurred or cropped off. It looks like we'll have to learn to live with that in order to protect not just these forums but our hobby and way of life.

Angie is one of the girls you can find at Lindas Chicas. Lindas chicas is an upscale place downtown. Upscale meaning a couple things. First, the girls tend to be prettier, and the price is a little higher (you won't see Jake). The service is consistently good, and the atmosphere festive.

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I am sick of these silly fights among members. To me if you have a beef with another fellow it would seem it best to use the private message to voice your thoughts. No need for the rest of us to wade though this stuff.

Also informative, if it wasn't for them a guy could say or advertise anything, without ever being called out on it. Think it helps to keep mostly honest guys stay honest, most of the time, LOL.
