A lot of negativity on this thread recently. It seems this is special for the AC thread. On other forums like Manila or Thailand (or any other destination in the world) the posts are much more informative, and more entertaining as well. This is probably due to the special character of AC as a monger destination. There is no other place like it. Thats also why many people, including myself, keep coming back here. We have a love-hate relationship towards AC. (Another reason is that the more supportive posters have migrated to other boards.)

Some posters seem only to be interested in talking AC down, for whatever reason, probably personal. They have a negative opinion of the place and especially the bars, and prostitution in general (especially if it is involves non-Asian guys). A few might even be imposters with their own agenda to limit visitors coming here. Then this goes on in endless and boring discussions. This it not new, it has been periods before with this silly stuff, just remember M. McCobb, "the dental expert".

For newbees this can be confusing. I will therefore advice all newbees, that is mongers who have not been to AC yet, to come here and see for themselves. Nothing is like your own experience. Then you know if you like it or not (most end up liking it). Also you should check out other boards that have more interesting information.

Read a few pages back to reports by IllusionHeart and myself about our joint New Year holiday in Manila & AC. Illusion got two waitresses over a 4 day period and 1 got a door girl on my last day. Your claims of people keep coming back to angeles is very debatable, not sure when you were last in angeles but I have been there twice in the last couple of months and as most if not all members are reporting angeles is dead,the streets are dead, bars are dead, hotels are struggling, restaurants have little custom, most of my friends who live here in thailand who would be regular angeles visitors some years ago refuse to visit now,i myself would not visit any where near as much as i do for pleasure only,my regular visits are firstly on buisness and family purposes with some bar hops thrown in for something to do in the evenings,

Yes I fully agree that a first time want to be visitor should not be put off by by negative reports if he is adamant he wants to try angeles, but at the same time many 1st time visitors visit angeles after reading glowing reports posted by the few members with an agenda and empty bar seats only to be left very disapointed as has been pointed out in the many trip reports recently,it works both ways.

My Advice is too see for yourself. Take what people tell you with a grain of salt. I'm heading back in April.
