I will once again recommend Google Fi as awesome. No futzing around with Sims and phones and IDs. Just WORKs in 220 countries.

Thing is if you are out of the USA for 3 months, google can and will shut off your cellular service. It was frustrating to me that the phone I got my gal quit working.
AT&T has a Latin American plan that allows unlimited everything for like $75 a month, but unlike Google Fi, it is confined to just the Americas. So I switched to it, and it works just as well as Google Fi but you do not have that shut off feature.
