It seems you can now bring in up to 10k USD in cash without declaring it. I remember not so long ago this amount was much lower, like 10k Real instead of 10k USD. That's good news. I know I can get money with my credit cards but I like the feeling of "having it already at hand" that goes with cash.

It's been $10 K USD since I have been going to Brazil (nearly two decades), and I've done it many, many times myself. Brought in $10 grand in cash and never declared squat! Now I prefer to use the ATMs and still don't have to declare squat LOL!

Expect digital real in near future.[/QUOTE]I know about XE, and as far as I can tell, you can only use it to send money to foreign countries. That makes it practically worthless as a conversion tool.
Sure there are ATMs, but they usually have low daily withdrawal limits and charge fees.
In Lima, the Scotiabank ATM had a daily withdrawal limit of 400 soles, and charged a 25 sole fee to withdraw at a rate of 3. 53 soles per dollar. Withdrawing 400 soles would thus cost $120.
Right now the street from the bank was a place called Capital Excahnge. 3. 75 soles for dollar with no fees. 400 soles cost $106.
I assume it's the same deal in Brazil unless someone can tell me otherwise.
So that's why I am trying to locate a good cambio in Brazil, to avoid getting screwed by the ATM like I almost did in Peru. It seems my dollars are much more valuable to these independent cambios than they are to large banks.

Before that, in 2021, I declared currency upon entry AND upon leaving as I still had more than 10k R when I flew back. On no occasion did they tell me my declaration was not needed, as they surely would have done to spare themselves the paperwork if declaration indeed was not needed. So don't even try to go there. I'm a veteran Brazil monger, every long term reader here knows it, so don't try it. And like I said, I brought in exactly $10 grand USD several times and never declared shit, and was never stopped and asked a thing. The supposed 10 grand reals limit was people not understanding the rules. I'm not one to flaunt the rules. It was easy to research, and I found it to be $10 grand USD. Think about it. A sum of 10,000 reals is such a relatively small sum of money. Doesn't even make any sense! But anyway who cares now with ATM cards that refund all fees. It's the better way to go versus carrying all of that cash.

2. When I first started going to Brazil a long time ago my research told me (was a long time ago so don't recall where I found it) the currency limit was 10 thousand USD.
3. I did in fact travel to Brazil many, many, many times with exactly 10 thousand USD with me in my carry-on before I went exclusively with using ATMs.
4. I was never stopped or questioned even once, and that includes even after some times when my carry on was X-rayed and even hand inspected.
5. If the limit ever was 10 thousand reals then clearly nobody ever gave a flip about that LOL!
That's my personal experience over the years, so that's what I know. I had $10 grand USD in cash on me several times and nobody gave a damn! At any rate, it should be clear that as you say, now the limit is clearly $10 K USD. But why carry all of that money around? Get a good debit card that refunds fees and use the ATMs!

The girl tells me she even gets blacklisted by boates like Cafe Photo and Scandallo. This is something you would expect more in Thailand with the barfine system than in Brazil.
So if we were seeing a girl outside the venue, not a hint about it to the venue and neither to any other girl lest the other girl tells management.
Then again, this girl may be exaggerating.

Now the same page says USD. I checked the Internet WayBack machine and the only copy is from 10/14/2022, and it was BRL back then.

Then again, this girl may be exaggerating.[/QUOTE]I don't know much about clinicas but what doesn't make sense here to me is that during my only visit at Scandallo, after finishing a session upstairs I started looking for more attractive girls to see if they're willing to schedule something on a different day when I have full stamina back. Out of about a dozen girls I approached like that only two refused to give me their whatsapp / instagram. That would suggest Scandallo doesn't ban girls that meet up with clients outside of their venue, so why would they care how the ladies from other places do their business?
