I arrive in Costambar a day before you and will be around during your stay there. I have some Sosua experience as well. Happy to offer some BB advice and I am sure to find you out and about. It's not a big place (Blackbeards or Costambar) but always fun just the same. Enjoy your trip!!

Just got taken advantage of as a first timer at Blackbeards and it left a terrible taste in my mouth. Arrived in Amber Cove on a cruise for the morning and took a 15 minute cab to Blackbeards to hang out for 3 or 4 hours. I went ahead and bought a room for the night for $77. Shortly after I met a young lady and enjoyed her company in the jacuzzi for 15 minutes and was asked for 4000 pesos. The whole pool was full of customers who I spoke with. They all told me the price should be $3000 pesos. Mamasan also confirmed that just for me it is $4000 pesos for me only with no explanation why I was being charged a higher price than every other person at the resort. I don't like being taken advantage of just because I don't speak the language and that is exactly what happened here. I've wanted to visit this place for YEARS and left after 2 hours feeling like a sucker. Obviously their prices are great. It's not the money its the principle. Stay away if you are an English speaker and don't like being taken advantage of. I left after less than 2 hours on property, they refused to refund my unused room and no one on property could tell me why I was being charged 33% higher than every other customer there. I am 40, fit, decently attractive and polite. Shame on this place.

The mamasans will not control the chicas! It is always best to discuss the price with the girl in person use your translator and get an agreed to price before you go upstairs. If you go into the hot tub Jacuzzi and you don't finish like you don't bust a nut and go upstairs it's still 3000 pesos plus tip if you want to tip. You got charged an extra thousand pesos which isn't really a lot of money. It's probably seven dollars maybe.

As far as paying for a room, I think if you don't have a room, I think they have a room that you can use for shirts stays, but I think they charge as well. I don't know how much they charge for that.

There's a lot of shady girls in there. Hopefully you didn't give them your number because they will blow your phone up crying. I call it E begging via text or fb messages.

And 3000 or 4000 pesos for 1 hour for hookers in the Dominican Republic is not great either. Most people in that country make about 13,000 pesos / month.

But they do that to the newbies charging a extra 1000 plus the 3000 for a short time visit plus the jacuzzi.

A girl got me my 1st time there and she kept coming up to me Every time I was there and I said nope you got me for 1000 pesos before I said I'll never spend another nickel on you again.

It's a shame that that guy got railed for 1000. It's not a lot of money though.
