Bottom line is, some latinos may use the word in an offensive manner but by and far, they just use it as way to describe someone. Just depends on how they say it or use the word.

I've had chicas refer to me as their "gringo lindo".

I've had Colombian and other latinos call me their "amigo gringo", Brazillians in portuguese call me their "amigo gringuinho".

Like I said, just depends on how they use the word, just like anything else.

Do we really have to have a debate on the word? Creo que no :)

I have been back for a couple of weeks and just got some time to drop a couple of lines. This was my first time in Medellin, so I used a lot of the information found here. All you need to know can be found right here and the information is reliable. Thanks gents for making my trip very easy and very pleasurable. I only had a few days so I set up some dates with chicas I meet on colombiana cupid and hit a couple of casas and FASE ll (1). So I made arrangements to stay at John's place in Laureles. One of my amigas from cupid picked me up at the airport (no lock down), so we headed for Laureles. Had a little communication problem with John so we had to find another apartment. They had a friend that works for Jh Immobiliaria ([url]www.jhinmobiliaria.com[/url]) and he showed us a nice one bedroom in El Poblado, I took it for 100k a night. It was 1 block from Park 10 Hotel and walking distance to Parque Lleres. Got settled in and decided to take the girls to dinner since her friend would not take any money for the airport pickup. While at dinner determine I would not get the cookies the first night with Andrea, I had to make other arrangements. So after they dropped me off I got a recommendation from the doorman to hit a casa near by in El Poblado. I do not remember the name of the place but the selection was decent, it was about 1:00 am, so I choice a nice rubio and we talked for about 15 minutes and we settle on 50 US for 4 hours at my place, no exit fee because we arrange for me to come back in 30 minutes to pick her up, I did have to tip the guard 20k so he would not tell the casa jefe. We went back to my apartment and enjoyed each other company so much she stayed until 2 in the afternoon. After the first girl left I hooked up with one of the girls from cupid for dinner, we then went walking and headed back to my place. We had a couple drinks and decide later to go out dancing. After the night out on town it was time to head back to the apartment, said she wanted to spend the night but wanted to wait until the next day to have sex. So I was a little disappointed but it was to late for other options and I was enjoying our time together, so we got some sleep. Turns out I did not have to wait to long because she surprised me in the morning with a nice BJ with all the trimmings. After breakfast she took me on a tour of Medellin, cable car is awesome, and later we went to the mall because I want to get her a couple of gifts. Got her a couple of outfits from Tennis, and headed for dinner. After dinner we did some more walking and taking in the sites, decided to stay in and enjoy some very passionate activities. Turns out she was the best of the group from cupid I wished I had spent all my time with her. My other dates ranged from wanting a husband to not looking anything like their pictures. I guess I got lucky the day I went to Fase II because the show was pretty awesome in my opinion, one girl did a dance with fire that is burned into my mind. I did partake of a 22 year blond on site for the 180k, we exchanged numbers and hooked the next afternoon. I decided to spend my last day with Alba the best of the group from cupid. Overall I really enjoyed my time in medellin and will return soon. Next time I will do more freelancing and spent 2 weeks instead of 1, if I could I would stay a month but with work that would be impossible at this time.

Guys just wanted to make a note of a Thai Restaurant that has opened about 4 months ago in Parque Lleras. This place is 100% Original Thai food! The co owner Jennifer is From Bangkok and the food is awesome! Its great to give kudos to a hard working foreigner that has brought her great AUTHENTIC food to Medellin, She told me that it was VERY difficult to bring her dream of opening her restaurant in Colombia. Why? From what I gathered, there is no Colombian Embassy in Thailand and therefore she or anyone else from Thailand need to first have acquired a USA Visa in order to travel to Colombia, She said in here 4 months of being in Medellin she has never met another Thai person!

With that said, her food is 100% AUTHENTIC and she definitely deserves our business / support. If you know Parque Lleras it is on the same street as the New Juan Valdez Cafe, just walk down 1 block and its on the right hand side on the Corner, The place is very nicely decorated and gave me and my friends the impression we were back in the States at a Great Thai restaurant and the food is INCREDIBLE!

I wish Jennifer all the luck! She is trying to get her Family to Medellin to help her with her venture as she is the cook as well and works her tail off so we may have a Great Authentic Thai experience.

Hard working people like this I believe we should and need to support!

Whose Tiny and why do we care about the history of Mexico?

I guess he or someone does not live that close to Baja California, Mexico or he would have spelled Tijuana correctly.

The massages in Medellin are really great: there are many places to choose from, the prices are cheap, and you never know which girl is waiting for you. If the girl is good, you can ask her for the number, if she's not, you're out in 30minutes and don't have to see her again.

Just one bummer: they are starting to charge 2000 just to see the girls.

I went around 10 times to these places. There was only one bad experience with a girl. I booked her for 1h (mistake) and after 20minutes I finished the session, because there was just no sense in wasting my time with her.

The good thing: not even 30 minutes later I tried a different place and found Julliet from Cartagena. It must have been the same Julliet you were writing, because she was super maravillosa! Laughing all the time, making jokes, giving an excellent massage and sex, and she made me come twice. Great experience (remember: 50k + tip). The next day I went again to see her and it was even better. I just regret that I didn't invite her to dinner or going to a movie as she has really showed interest in doing so.

The good thing about Colombian girls: there's no limit. Just when you think this was your best sex in month. It's getting even better

So at the end, Julliet was only my #3 experience.

As these girls do not work regulary and change often the places, there is no sense to remember the name of the houses. Just troll around the street and try to find these houses (that's the first part of the fun). Almost always there will be at least one doable girl, and sometimes you can find a diamond.

My personal statistic:
10% bad
60% good
30 % great

BTW: if you find a place with 2 nice girls, mostly you can opt for a threesome.

Just got back from Medallo and for the first timer did pretty good. My god, Loutron is a candy store. LOL wow just can't believe it yet. Even clinton was in the action.

I was in Cali again this last week, I was with Hugo, Marcy, our secretary's brother, he's born and breed in Colombia other than living 20 years in the States and even his friends call him gringo as he speaks perfect english.

I would haft to say the the word "gringo" has a wide range of means and as RICKER says, all depends on in what sentence it is used.

The term gringo was originated in countries with US occupation. The soldiers, dressed in green, would be shouted at to go home. Hence, "green go home" became "Gringo" and it stuck. I don't think it to be used denoting a negative point of view today. Most people will use the phrase casually today with no offense intended.
