I found a clever solution for calling from a russian cell# outside Russia. The first time I went to Russia last year, I purchased a local SIM card. Then, I registered the number for calling line identification on my Skype account. Then, I was able to negotiate and inquire with a salon using my Skype account just prior to my arrival while appearing to be in Russia. It allowed me to hit the ground running with potential arrangenents made for my first day. Once I returned to SPB, I just recharged my SIM, continued using it and no one knew the difference. To me, 50% HIV positive prostitutes sounds like a high number. I am at Saint Pete now, staying at a private flat just north of city centre.

My first stop this week so far has been at xxxmassage. Ru. This is my third visit there this year. Not since my initial visit in 2014, reported previously, have I been offered FS. This time, I bought the full package for two hours with Yuli just to see what would transpire. It eventually led to a very, very long handjob. You cannot stay in Russia for a year or longer without leaving the country and reentering it. I'm too lazy to check the visa rules, but there is also a limit to the total number of days you can spend in Russia each year. I visit Russia 6-8 times each year, with stays varying between 10 days and 35 days, with a business visa. When I visit other cities, and my work contacts in those cities have to register my visa, someone actually does count the number of days I've been in Russia to see if I'm in danger of exceeding the max, so sometimes at least it's taken seriously.

I rent an apartment owned by a local and shop in nearby markets, cook in the apartment, etc. Presently, it's dirt cheap for me to live here.

There are a few members who post in the Moscow section who are basically expats. You might post your question there and see what their answers are to staying in Russia long term as well.

I'm in Piter now, January 2016. It becomes dark about 16.00 and light around 10.00, so your lucky to have 6 hours or so of sunlight. If it's overcast, it can seem dark the entire day. Piter weather is notoriously unpredictable and unhealthy, as it can be cold with high humidity, and this time of year the streets and metro, busses, etc are full of people coughing and hacking. Everyone in Piter complains about two things, the weather and Moscow. About a week ago it was +7c. Today it was -25 c. Moscow is hated because, well, basically it's a dump, the people there are obnoxious, and the metro is a labyrinth full of zombies, and, more to the point, every Russian not living in Moscow resents the fact that tax money is taken from their regions and sent to Moscow to try and make Moscow look good (a hopeless task). For example, when I was in a mid sized southern Russian city a few weeks ago, everyone was bitter about the fact that their city had no money for New Years decorations, because, so they claimed, the money had gone to Moscow to decorate Red Square.

This year it's been unusually warm in Piter, until just recently, with little snow. Usually there is snow and ice on the streets by this time and quite cold and often quite windy. In the summers it can be quite hot and, depending on where your staying, there can be a lot of tiny, aggressive, mosquitoes. Piter has suicidal mosquitoes. They will land on you, bite you, and stay biting you until they finish or until you kill them. For variation, you can go to one of the small islands and find giant mosquitoes. Which the locals claim were produced by all the chemical waste left on the islands over the years. Rumor has it one or more of these islands plays host to raves each summer.

As far as mongering goes, there are lots of posts in this section and in the Moscow section (the two cities most people go to) addressing various aspects of it. The situation may be trending pro-mongering however, as the extended slump in the Russian economy may be biting into "normal" people's budgets, and "normal" girls may start considering the occasional meeting with gift a go-to option, like it was back in the "day" before the Putin led recovery. A few hours ago I was able to exchange dollars for 74.3 rubles. The ruble has been trading in the 60's and 70's against the dollar now for about a year, and forecasts aren't good for 2016. Personally, I still use Mamba to find girls occasionally in Piter. In the completely un-scientific impression category, this trip it has seemed to me more girls replied on Mamba than previously, with prices being quoted as low as 5000r for 1-2 hours, though most of the girls who seemed to be independents and not some salon hustler wanted anywhere from 10-20000r.
