Edit: One Casarao thing I forgot to mention, it seems like at the hotel they intentionally scam you when using a card. Instead of paying in reais, my card was charged in dollars with a 16% mark up. After tapping my card I never saw the screen actually ask USD/BRL, but I saw them hit the green button and then it processed. If you want to go that route then just write the hotel and ask their guest policy. They know what you mean. This is not pussy prison USA. No need to be shy.
That said I can tell you for sure that both Estanaplaza Ibirapuera and Mercure Ibirapuera Privilege are for sure guest friendly. I prefer the latter because it had a great bar / restaurant on the first floor with outdoor terrace. Great place to stay. Also Transamerica Executive Paulista was GF also.

Here is an interesting factoid: Sao Paulo has the largest Japanese population outside of Japan, with approximately 1. 6 million Japanese / Brazilians.
