2) It creates a vicious atmosphere. Where some people become self declared messiahs of the forums AND instead of creating an atmosphere of encouragement. Create an absolutely cruel and vicious atmosphere. . Sometimes, one has to just let the newbie be. Encourage him to read the forum (who ever coined the RTFF term, is no doubt a disgruntled fellow) , point the newbie towards ROD and give himsome common sense advice and encourage the newbie to share. But WR, Cons68 just were flaming them with under the belt remarks. The flaming just did that. It flamed bad and good newbies.

3) And the diverse experience goes for a toss: If the newbie had been encouraged, maybe we get to know about new experiences. But once one has flamed him and kept the board clean: well the forum remains that only. Spotless clean. Full marks for neatness but content is zero. So nobody wants to come back to the forum. Nobody wants to reads the reams and reams of flaming and nothing else worthwhile.

The same is in another forum related to a country that has seen a growth of visitor from that geographical area. Same attitude, same questions, same approach. They are even well known for their MO. It is true that some of us have to deal with rejections but in my experience very rarely in Dubai.
