On the opposite end of the spectrum, today I checked out 2 very cheap, skanky options downtown. Also recommended, though obviously in a different league to the porn stars!
I went to 2 buildings in downtown Sao Paulo which are like vertical brothels. 9 floors of working girls. I really enjoy visiting these buildings (I had visited another in 660 Rua Guaruicas, Belo Horizonte, had an amazing experience). They make for a memorable, low-life "cultural" experience in Brazil. If anyone else can recommend other buildings like this in SP, please post.

I visited both buildings at 11am then again at 2:30pm on a Monday. There were about 25-30 girls I saw each time, with high turnover (on second visit, only a few of the same girls). I had expected the atmosphere to be frentic, like rush hour at the metro station (this is how it was in BH) but in the atmosphere was more chilled out and not so many customers walking around (may be more crowds in the evening or lunch hour)
The girls wait on the landings, or on the stairwells where they proposition you, or grab you as you walk past. Its quite a trip! I recommend you walk up the stairs to the top (or take the elevator). Then choose a girl on the way down. The quality of the girls ranges from 2's to 8's, I found them to be some cuter ones on the lower levels. There were some older fuglies on all floors, perhaps more on the upper floors. I found that you need to be persevering to catch the cuter ones. The turnover is fast. I visited went back and forth between the 2 buildings (a 20 minute walk) twice until I found a girl I was very happy with.
1) Rua Andradas. 69. Open 9am-8pm. Action is R$20 for 15 minutes. In a cubicle with single bed or a "space" with bed and curtains. On my first visit there were 3 who I would have done (but when I came back for them 2 hours later they were not there)
2) Al. Barao de Limeira. 134. Action is R$25 for 20 minutes. The floor I used had a toilet (surprisingly clean) , and a private room with a single bed (I doubt the sheets get changed much)
I chose a foxy mulatta from the landing on the first floor, Bruna. Excellent body, dreamy curvy ass for a petite girl, and attractive face (perhaps a little worn, she was mid-20's) , from Bahia. Nicely dressed. I couldn't believe my good luck.

SAFETY NOTE: These 2 downtown areas are safe by day, but take the usual precautions. After dark and the shops shut, I'd take a taxi to the Rua dos Andradas building. Even in the day, for walkers, I'd recommend to access Rua. Andradas NOT via metro Luz (closest station). Better to walk from metro Sao Bento / Rua Santa Efigenia (great cheap camera shops) , or via Metro Republica / Av. Ipiranga. Around Luz station, some streets are OK by day, because they are crowded with homeless, junkies and street hookers. OK, no problem. But one or two blocks of the connecting streets to Rua Andradas can be semi-deserted and feel more edgy. When walking from Luz, might be better to stick to main roads, or prepare to cross the road to avoid dodgy characters!
