When I'm with Peruvian friends, they actually play hide the gringo and make me hide till they hammer out with the cab driver the price, they tell me if they see me the price goes up.

Money-I brought down USA cash, and I changed up at both atlantic city casino and Hotel hacienda Casino. Both were on larco and both had the best rate's I could find, and believe me I looked. Outside guys were doing 2. 82 to the dollar and inside Atlantic City was doing 2. 88. The ATM's got smart down there there charging 6 soles to take money out and maxing you at 200 dollars a transaction.

Stomach bug-Again by day 9 I wasn't feeling a 100pct, I must have eaten something, and was again on my way to the pharmacy to get something for it. I have to report that 3/4 of us came down with something.

David33-He was great to us, not just about chicks but about places to eat and go. He helped us without compensation and for this we say thank you very much. Reading Bbrocs' report I thought I would mention something about taxis from the airport to Miraflores. The "official" taxis, called taxi green (though the actual cars are usually black) charge a posted price (on signs in the airport) of 45 soles from airport to Miraflores. That is about $19. After using them I didn't bother again trying to find a taxi outside. For one thing I've always had to pay more, usually 55-60 soles for the outside taxis, and for another the official ones seem a lot newer and safer to me.

Re-reading the posts they say there the last in line, but maybe I made a wrong turn out of the airport door?

I don't know if it was "taxi green" or other company, they are located just after customs inspection left of the big door that drives to the main airport lobby and dare to ask 160 soles to go to Miraflores.

Their stand is just as before you walk out of the building.

They are set apart from the other companies that is why they are cheaper.

Their prices are on display.

Airport to Miraflores is $USD 20 with invoice.

If you paid any more, you were scamed.

Jeepers. Just go across the median outside right in front of the hotel and catch a taxi who is leaving for 20 - 25 soles max (same for the return trip to the airport). Other than that, as Sly said, a regular airport taxi is $20.

Any idea how to go about finding a maid who might be new to Lima, and be grateful for the job and happy to earn more?
