Dear fellow Mongers,Sorry I had been on the roads (Traveling within Asia) for the last 2 weeks and did not have time to update the board about Ai Dian that had been moved to Osaka. While in my last posting, I mentioned Ai Dian had been closed due to paranoid Mama San. A few fellow mongers had contracted me directly about Ai Dian. So I made a overseas call home to Mama San and found out that it is confirm that she had moved her business to Osaka where it is safer now because there had been too many crack downs in Tokyo recently.But there are other places in Shinjuku which I can recommend.Let me get back home and update the board on the places around Asia I had found!Cheers!

[/QUOTE]As a long-termer with excellent Japanese, Motown and Roppongi nampa has never seemed as easy as it's sometimes said to be. I've probably picked up 6-7? girls in Roppongi over maybe 50 nights spent drinking there over 15 years, but I can say from my experience that excellent Japanese and being in Japan long-term do not guarantee that this white guy of perfectly acceptable appearance (I hope) and making reasonsable efforts won't strike out. I have to bow my hat to the nampa experts, some on this board, who've got what it really takes. I'm not shy, and not too aggressive, but I can't pull off the level of planning and charm that it takes to lower the Roppongi strike-out ratio. In my experience, the best places in terms of the "get" ratio for white Westerners have been small bars in bad locations targeting foreigners that struggle to get a critical mass of customers and so allow/encourage several slutty girls who like to sleep around with white guys to hang out there. Having two or three white-guy-crazy sluts attracts a few others, and if there are six of these and only 10 male customers (say 5 Japanese and 5 Westerners), the Westerners have a good chance of going home accompanied by somebody, if they want. When I was in my mid-20s, the first place like this was a bar in Ogikubo with a heavy-set American owner/bartender, then there was a place on the west side of Shinjuku station from which I picked up 3 different girls on different nights who all knew each other, and there was an Irish pub in Ueno with a Scottish owner/bartender that wasn't quite as ****-heavy but I still could get lucky more easily than in Roppongi, where there are usually just too many prowling foreign guys just like me to go around. Late a night there's always a few in there, and it gets a mixed crowd of gaijin and Japanese. I've gotten 3 out of there in more or less 15 nights over the last 3 years or so. A few drinks and in two cases taxi-fare home for them. Another place where I got lucky once 2 years ago was in the Suntory bar also in Kabukicho, the one near the Kent Hotel. This one boy could she drink.

I have been stopped a couple of times in Kabukicho, but if you just question the tout on why he is stopping you from entering, they normally let you pass. It helps if you speak Japanese like a local man, not Japanese learned in schools. With the frequent crackdowns, I see few acceptable SWs these days. The market seems to have gone largely online via mobile comms - even for foreign girls. It is hit and miss, but a somewhat reliable spot is still the old SW area in the Kabukicho area of Shinjuku. If you walk straight from the South exit of Shinjuku JR station, go past Studio Alta, cross Yasukuni-dori and walk to the Koma Theatre. Turn left and then right and walk past the movie theatres till you see the Hygeia Building. You will see a police box on the corner. Walk to the other corner and make a right - you will see a few love hotels on the left side and a dark bush-lined sidewalk on the right side. Walk slowly up the right side and there are often 1-3 girls in the shadows.These girls are usually Thai or Taiwanese. I have used them a few times. Price is JPY15-20,000 for short time FS plus circa JPY3,000 for hotel room. Looking Japanese to a certain degree, and then being able to speak in case there is some doubt, sure helps.I would not claim to speak like a yakuza, but I live here for several years now and would say I am quite fluent in Japanese (including colloquials and slang). I don't look Japanese though and jusk "asking" why you are stoped does not help (at least it never helped me, stop means stop).On different occasions it indeed developed into an interessting conversation with the tout (which also gave me some more "insight" into the business), but even when they are then convinced that I am one of the "good gaijin", will treat the girl nice, look decent and can speak Japanese, etc., they normally appologize that the policy is "no gaijin" and they only follow the owner's order.Strange world.
