A professional body guard that is licensed and knows what the hell he is doing will cost 1000 p per 12 hour shift.
On my monthly work / pleasure visits to Angeles and the phills my pinoy partners there insists we travel with security, not sure why anyone is so shocked to hear this.
Yes one can dig their head in the sand and claim it never happened to me so it does not happen.
I have a few post ago posted links to actual numbers of foreigners murdered in Angeles / Phills, considering such a very small number of foreigners actually visit the statistics are very high.
Hell. At 200 pesos/day why not get one!
Let's face it! At P200 a day or even P1000 who is really going to take a bullet for you?
I have traveled all over the Philippines and never had a bodyguard. I am shocked you would post that you used a bodyguard. How much did it cost you? Maybe she used fear to get someone a job?
I did not pay him and he was a member of the family. Paid his hotel, food etc. During 5-6 trips around the country we ran into some weird situations now and then (yes, maybe we pushed the limits a little.) so I was happy he was there to assist. I did not ask for a body guard and I am fairly fit myself, so I just felt I could handle every situation. But my girlfriend insisted and in hindsight I can understand better why. I soon learnt that it is helpful to be with someone who understand the "game" that is going on. Sometime it can be very subtle. Knowledge of traditions and language is of course also important. And he was a great guy, so no regrets. My point is that safety is also related to what you do, were you go and what situations you are willing to put yourself in. These days I travel alone in the Philippines, but I know a lot more about the culture now than I did on the first trips.

In more than 11 years here, I've had PNP or Philippine Marine guards a couple of times while on business in conflict areas, and at the insistence of the government. Other than that, even in Cotabato, Zamboanga and Marawi, I've never felt the need. Be interesting to hear Red Kilt's take on this as he's been here longer than I and has traveled fairly extensively in some of the more remote spots of Mindanao as I have.

The times that I have had PNP and Marine bodyguards whilst on official business were, for example, travelling from Davao to Cotabato; in Zamboanga when in the company of the Aust Ambassador; and in northern Mindanao between Malaybalay and across to Tandag and Bislig on the east coast.
In each case, I felt much more nervous with the security around me than I have felt when I was flying solo, as it seemed to draw attention to the fact that there must be VIPs in the convoy (despite my lowly status).
One of the senior executives of a major business in Manila always travels in a convoy of 3 large black 4 WDs (with him in the middle), and it was quite farcical to see him jogging near my condo each morning with 4 guys surrounding him as they went around the athletic track. When he arrives at his condo they leap out of the vehicles and scan the area like they have seen the Secret Service bodyguards of POTUS do. It's all a big wank and I guess it pumps up his ego.

GE.
As we have met GE you know what my work was in the Philippines. Of course I had security (AFP / PNP) on all of my trips to Jolo, Tawi-Tawi, Catabota and Zamboanaga, but when I traveled for leisure I never had security. IMHO any foreigner who displays a great wealth is a target if they live in the Philippines. As far as killing foreigners, I would say 90% were inside jobs.

I am on mens
The past few days I have been coming across many bg at one bar on their menstration. A couple ones that I knew before are on their men's now. Yesterday morning a new girl started her mens while we were missioning. 5" by 5" red spot on the sheets. She was horrified! Good thing I was prepared and had a small bottle of hydrogen peroxide handy. Poured some on it and within 2 minutes the red was gone.
Finally I put 2 and 2 together. The girls are using birth control pills and stop taking them on the 26th! And then resume taking them on the first of the month.

Makes sense!

Never dawned on me. I always thought the girl wasn't interested or attracted to me, or drink.

Security
Sammon & X man thanks for the 411.
I returned from my AC trip and stayed at the Central Park Tower and can confirm they do not ask for ID when escorted up, but they do call the room to let me know that they are leaving.
For anyone looking at Central Park Tower, I'd stay there again. Great location, easy to find (tall building visually can be seen, clean and new. The only downside is they only have 2 elevators so when it is busy you will have to wait a bit.
To just ride.
Yes most hotel don,t take id but good hotel security will stop girl by them self and ask them which room they are from and ask front desk
To contact you, one time security even bring the girl back up to my room ask me if the girl can leave and I tip the guy.
Fast Eddie 48.
Very interesting theory. Are you saying "I am on mens" is not always a general excuse but there could be a method behind the madness?
Yes sir. It may not be my ugly looks or unpleasant personality! Most bg hang together with a group of friends and follow the leader. If the leader is doing something then they do they same. Apparently this click of 5-6 girls are on birth control pills now. I have been seeing the same 3 girls the past 8 months and who ever is the new ones they refer to me. In the past when one is on her mens she sends the other girls, vice versa. These past few days they all said they were on their mens! Earlier in the month they were all available which stuck me strange then.
So when the new girl started bleeding and said she was on the pill it finally sunk in, after 12 hours.
There you have it.

Last night was my last night in Philippines so I thought I would get a new bg from perimeter. I guess I was a bit late around 8:30 pm as all the good picks were gone. I decided to call it quits after 10 pm. Got back to my hotel when one of the mens girl texted me a safe trip for tomorrow. I asked her if she finished her men's yet? She replied YES! Come on over then! With the pill the menstration is down to a few days for her.
Always have a few girls on standby with their cell numbers.

Brace yourself DG
Last night was my last night in Philippines so I thought I would get a new bg from perimeter.
You are about to experience "Phils Withdrawals", which has nothing to do with either the 'pull out' method nor ATM fees.
