I usually prefer hostess bars to go-gos but even the few times I had gone to a go-go before Soi Cowboy, I had never been hounded for drinks so I did not expect it there. I expect that when I buy a drink I am buying 5-10 minutes of face time; therefore I should not have bought any drinks for women who were obviously not going to stick around.

Some men expect that the interest a woman shows in them at the go-go will translate to the bedroom so they get upset when she is affectionate in the go-go but a starfish in the hotel. Some men expect that more money equals better service; however in Thailand more money usually means she has a feature that customers pay a premium for (younger, newer, dare I say whiter skin) or she sees the guy coming from a mile away. The guy then gets upset because he paid her more than most Thais make in a month and she gave a weak BJ followed by pedestrian sex. Some men expect a GFE experience, including kissing and DATY, and then are disappointed when the girl shies away from those things.

Here's some advice that may help other guys better manage their expectations vis-a-vis go-gos.

If you are limited on time read past reports and only go with girls who got glowing reviews. I have found that how good a girl is can often be hit or miss, but the good ones are generally consistent. Granted I have recommended women to other guys and had the guys say that she told them no to things that she did for me so YMMV.

Remember that Asians draw a line between generosity and stupidity. Telling her about how expensive your hotel is will probably not impress her so much as get her thinking about how she will rip you off.

Always be price conscious, read the board and ask several girls at several places time permitting, because in my experience and what I've been told by other men there is a point of diminishing returns. In other words I may pay a girl 2000 (which IMO is beyond generous giving cost of living and wages in BKK) for LT and you may pay her 4000 but we will probably get the same effort from her.

Be honest with yourself about what you are looking for. If you want a girl for LT or even a ST girl who won't rush you avoid bars that encourage the girls to go with as many customers per night as possible.

Be honest about why you are there. If you want to party and have a good time then buy some drinks and get a few lap dances. If you want a girl then go in, order a soda, signal the girl (s) you are interested in, maybe buy them a drink, negotiate, pay the bar fine and then leave.

Be upfront about what you want. I know some men don't like talking price or deeds beforehand, but IMO that can lead to miscommunications and overpaying. For example, if you want a GFE with kissing and some bb services then make sure to let her know before you leave and make sure she is okay with it.

Lastly, don't fear the Japanese / Korean / Chinese. One of the best thing about Asian men is that their ideal woman is often not the woman that many western men like. Even in places with a large Asian crowd, there are always beautiful women for the taking and some of them are overjoyed when you show them the slightest bit of attention. Also, don't be afraid to talk to them. I constantly hear guys bitching about how the Japanese and Koreans are ruining things by overpaying, but most men overpay until they know differently. The first time I went to Laos I was paying 4-5 times what I paid the second time for LT simply because I did not know any better and I'm sure many of you have similar tales.

Back in the hotel a rather bland although not entirely empty experience. Not a true GFE but not a starfish either. One problem she didn't speak almost no English. Just a few words which means almost no verbal communication. We had to use gestures for most part (reminds me how I find my way around while traveling in China where English is a no-go almost anywhere.).

Spent time there till 2 followed by couple hours in the Nana parking lot watching one of the most interesting phenomena in the world!

On Day 2:

Anyway, it's a bit unfortunate with the treatment you have described in some situations.

I know it's not news that Indians do get discriminated in BKK and especially in go-go bars. But may I ask a few things? What 'kind' of Indian are you? Not that this matters to me but I just wonder what exactly makes them take such decisions regarding discrimination? I have some friends who are of ethnic South Asian origin but are born in Europe and apart from some of their ethnic visual attributes that they can't escape are not and never consider themselves to be 'Indian'. As far as I am aware they have never had any problems visiting go-go bars or any other places in BKK and get the same treatment as Farangs (not as Japanese though, obviously). Do you have specific accent, appearance (such as mustache?) , style or anything else that makes then identify you as 'Indian'?

You probably watched me trawling the Nana parking lot last night! Sorry to hear about you woes though and I faced the same kinda difficulties. Got the price down from 1500 to 1200, pay in advance to the mama-san and again in the room and then in the room the girl tried to spring the covered BJ trick on me. She also tried to ask for a 100 baht tip for ok performance. Maybe, for better or worse, I give off the aura of a accomplished monger so they know that kind of behaviour will not be tolerated. Rbamane, the way to diminish these problems is to dress as smart as you can. White guys may get away with shorts and a tshirt, but you should make more effort. It helps.
