Mombasa

I will be in MSA next week (for a couple of weeks). I'm looking for a reasonably priced taxi service with a good clean car, and a good knowledge of ST hotels and such. Would anyone here care to give me the number of reliable driver? Please PM me.

Thanks in advance.[/QUOTE]You might be way better off financially, and especially in terms of freedom of movement, If you were to rent a self-drive car for your multi week stay. Once you are behind the wheel yourself, it's way less scary than if you are being chauffeured around. I speak from experience (actually MBA is a piece of cake compared to Rome, Istanbul, Tehran, Mexico City, Jakarta etc.).

I can put you in touch with several rental outfits I've done business with before, if you are interested. Expect to pay 2, 500 / day for a small Toyota and 500 more for a midsize.

Tembo didn't have a good crowd this weekend. The german owner has sold it off and the news on the street is that it will be demolished to make way for an apartment block. This apparently is the reason for its declining popularity with the local crowd. I wonder why? When news spread about Rattlesnakes impending demise in Dubai, people flocked to it more than ever to enjoy the last few months of the legendary Rattler. Over here, the opposite. People are trying to kill it off before its end date.

So what's the latest hotspot on the north coast?

From Mombasa, Bamburi, Mtwapa fast express minibusses run to Malindi. And from there back to M, B. And M. And fast means rrrrreally fast. O_o So it's a one day trip. But my advice: prefer Mombasa area as homebase.
