Vyacheslav is considered a big loon, even in Russia. He isn't representative of any kind of movement or threat to anyone, including mongers. He spent over six years in a Russian jail for burglary and then escaping from a psych hospital and had a colorful stay in Norway (where he met some kindred looney spirits) after he escaped from a Russian mental hospital. He was released from prison a few years ago. BTW the Norwegian doctors determined him to be "sane. ".

There definitely ARE more visible nationalists and xenophobes in Russia these days, but a big dose of "common sense" still works in avoiding them. The biggest red flag to mongering in any city is when the brothels or girls start asking what color someone is are or where they are from, and then rejecting them. When the people in the trade start refusing business because of a guy's color or national origin, then it's time to get the hell out or cancel your visit. So before pushing the panic button on Russia, wait to see such reports appearing.

I'd even go so far as to say being a person of "color" still works in your favor in a big city like Petersburg, especially if your going after the amateur/student girls and your American. Having been to St. Pete several times I have never seen any real security in brothels. The door is always locked and that's what Red Tarzan had to break. Local SPB mongers could possibly confirm, but afaik there are no human guards in SPB brothels like in the wild 90's.
