Which one has more negative impact? Losing birth certificate or passport? I always though losing birth certificate has more impact. To me I'd rather bring my passport than my birth certificate. I can always reapply for a replacement passport but I imagine losing a birth certicate would be a whole lot more trouble to go through.

Also you mention about getting the cop's name and badge number and report him/her. But where do we report to?

If the cops did take a passport..and one could not pay the mordida, one would then need to get the cop's name, badge number, etc. and report him/her. I know New York State offers 2 versions - a "copy" copy and an "original" copy.

As far as the one that I produce, it compares to a good photocopy and there's no way they could determine the legitimacy of it.

After reading other adventures in other bordertown forums on ISG, it feels like they're just going thru the motions until the passport only factor kicks in. Like a trial run and an extention for us to get used to the fact.

I think there may have been some pressure on them on the passport only thing at the time.

doesn't the bc issued and copied from the county where u where born have a raised seal on it?
I don't know what replacement passports run, but my original costed $100 bucks and a bc only costed me under $10.

But another issue is how long is ICE going to accept bc?

My plan is to take the passport, but only monger during the day to lessen the chances of anyone fucking with me in J-town.

I have been to Monterrey and really liked the setup with the strip clubs and being able to take a lady for a couple of hours out of there (110 to 125us) What is the closest thing to that in Juarez? grasshopping, i sincerely believe it would be more of a problem to lose a passport right now than a birth certificate. it takes a few weeks to get a replacement passport..and the cost is much higher. also, one might be required to send in a birth certificate simply to get a passport.

to get a birth certificate, it is simply a matter of contacting the proper agency in the state where you were born, pay them the fee they require, and you should get your birth certicate quickly.

in my case, i do have a passport, but see no reason to use it until i absolutely have to. i happen to have more than one birth certificate, because i applied at different times for birth certifcates while planning trips through the years and luckily found them all when all this cbp mess came up. i would urge anyone, when applying for a birth certificate, to request and pay for at least two of them..this way you have a back-up and can still cross the river should you lose a birth certificate..or one of juarez's finest decides to confirep001e your birth certificate for a fee as well.

if a juarez cop gives you a serious problem, you need to go to their police station which is located, i understand, close to the 16th of septiembre and a street called oro. oro is a few blocks west of mariscal street. i have never had to go there to complain, but my understand is that it helps..but take a fluent bilingual person you trust with you..don't go alone, unless your spanish is perfect. my spanish is about 80-85%, so i would take someone with me.
