I just got back from the beach and there is no problem in Lima, and they have since canceled the warnings. In the mean time there were hundreds of surfers out there this morning hoping to "ride the big one"!

I am booked on LAN airlines. I have no idea what is going on with them. Too be honest flights should be the last thing on their mind.

I was out in La Punta all afternoon and there was nothing out of the ordinary.

I just returned to the apartment in Miraflores and the tide looks normal.

That's nothing. You should see what happens in my toilet bowl after a 3 soles "menu" lunch.

I arrived in Lima very early this morning. Some of the passengers on my flight had been on a previous flight in route to Santiago Chile but the plane had to turn back mid-flight because the airport apparently wasn't fit to land after the earthquake. So they had to take another flight to Lima. Apparently the closest international flight they could get to Chile.

David33, thank you very much for your earlier reply; it was very helpful. I did go ahead and find an apartment in Miraflores. It's going to take me a while to adjust to the warm climate here after leaving the dead of winter in North America. Maybe I might go buy a fan so I can be comfortable in the apartment.

Was in Lima last night staying near Parque Kennedy. Started out in Pizza Alley and sat in one of the cafes to see if anything caught my eye. Quality wasnt too great. The women that were obviously working were very long in the tooth. So I took it over to Canadian Club on the same side of the park. There were some cute girls there but i was told there was no take out, you just buy the girls drinks there. Headed over Tequila Rocks since I had never been there before. Got there about 11:30 and there were a good number of good looking women. i speak Spanish fluently but even with that it was tough bargaining. Of the better looking women, none wanted to go back to my hotel for less than 350 soles. Even though they said i could take as long as i wanted, i got the hardened hooker vibe from them and didnt want to pay so much for a quickie.

Next stop Larcomar to Mama Batata one level down from the entrance. Good crowd for a wednesday night. saw a lot of gringo's with there girlfriends for the night. Met a couple of girls out celebrating a birthday, her 28th and danced and made out with the birthday girl. She was with a group of guy and girl friends so i didnt push to bring her back to my hotel since she was also working the next day.

Still had an itch so then went to Lions Spa on the 20th block of Av. Arenales in Lince. This is the only 24hr spa that I know of although I'm sure there are others. First Day in town

I got in late last night and Lima Busy and his driver met me promptly at the airport. I’ve stayed at his place my last few times here and he’s the best host in town.

I walked over to the Vivande market at around 2am to get some groceries - I had about 100 soles in my pocket but I was still thinking dollars. While the girl was ringing me up I realized that I wasn’t going to have enough, and the line behind me was long. I only mention it to contrast it to how I would have been treated in the US.
