Bravo...
I have gotten quite a few pm's about BA 85 and centro:
TJ
Rarely have I seen one guy prompt so many posts as you have on this trip TJFan. Well done - most entertaining. I hope you had as much fun "playing" as I did reading about it. Thanks for the effort of diligently posting just about every day! What a trooper.
If Help closes so does Terraco Atlantico, the whole place is going, it's all part of the same problem. Just take a look at the artists rendition, TA is gone, wiped out, doesn't exist anymore, bye bye.
Artist rendering means nothing. TA is a seperately run business from Help. But construction and closer policing can radically change the afternoon business there for sure.

I have also read that Help is relocating to the Bingo place (wherever that is) - It's on Trip Adviser. What a shame, I thought I would make it before it closes, but if it is open late Oct it would be a miracle - I'm going to church every Sunday till then.... LOL !

Metro Card Tip
Last few days going back and forth to Centro. I always buy a card and put the max R12 on it since I am afraid of losing the Metro Card with alot of trips on it.
Whatever you do, if you plan on leaving Centro around 5pm or 6 pm, make sure you have enough on your card for your trip back. The lines are into the next zip code during rush hour at the teller window if you need to refill. Happened to me twice already.
Also, after a few days of using the same Metro Card, get yourself a new fresh card when done. The scanner doesnt read it well for some reason after a few days.

Useful stuff - working the system out at short notice can be a bummer :(. If you've not been for a few years, it's all changed.
Another thing is the single tickets. You can't just buy a wad for when you need them and use them like the old multiticket. They run out after I think it is 3 days. After that you can only trade them in.

31th anniversary
On 25 august at Solarium, I guess a good reason to go there :)

Balcony Bar
Been there twice this week. After speaking to alot of the girls, it appears that certain girls there are starting to mark their territory to set themselves up to when Help closes. I confirmed this with 6 girls already. There seems to be alot of catfighting these days for territory at places. Some of the same girls sit on the same ledge of Balcony night after night. This will defintely replace Help in due time, I can see it coming. Clientel in here appears to be very old as well. I see very few young guys walking in and out these nights. Alot of elderly men strolling in looking for a hottie for the night.

Restaurants
Let's not forget Alcazar. It was once a GDP pick up place many years ago. It's much like Mab's and Meia Pattaca.
Alcazar: Av Atlāntica, 3530, Copacabana

Artist rendering does mean nothing, you're right but I was just using it as an example, from what I have read in the previous 3 years about Help closing it includes all the property including Terraco Atlantico.
If it is Bingo Arpoador I think that will be a good move because I heard it is huge inside and multiple floors, so with a lot of money they can turn that into some place. I did see it under construction this past July, Help management has had a heads up on this for quite some time but the neighbors and the government don't want them to go there either but it would be a perfect spot.

Geo
Please confirm the location of 130 Ouvidor. When headed toward you station on Rua Uruguaiana, turn right on Ouvidor and it's on the right side of the street, correct?
I was at that location on Jun-30, the door was down, and it had a sign saying that it had relocated, call tel. # for new address. Maybe it's under new ownership. Or I was at the wrong place.
What was the rate at 130 Ouvidor? I was disappointed to find (or not) this placed closed when I was looking for it. As I remember, it was supposed to be dirt cheap per Sperto's list.

The State took steps and secured that building, so it's not available.
In one of the those news reports, (don't recall which one at the moment,) Help's ownership stated they would NOT be opening another Club. Perhaps a ruse to keep the State off their backs.

But, certainly construction will make a noisy mess of that area for the next several years.
