Bad Customer Service is Par for the course in the Dominican Republic
Some rules have changed for the worst (in my opinion) like paying a $100 deposit to reserve a room. I don't mind paying the $100, however they don't have an easy way to pay the deposit. I wound up having to send a western union. In the year 2025 paying $100 via credit card should not be the complicated. Also they hold the $100 until you check out and pay you back in pesos at an exchange rate which is not favorable. It's not a deal breaker for me, however it is a bad customer service experience the way they have it set up. Also as soon as you arrive they have you sign a form stating that you will wear a blue wrist band the entire time you are on their property; failure to do so will result in a charge (I forget the exact amount). Once again this is a bad customer service experience; also I didn't see any valid reason to make us wear it. Any time I left the property I took it off and put it back on when I returned.
Interesting to see that nothing has changed in that regard in the the Dominican Republic.
