The prices you paid are way out of the norm.

Matter fact you could say correctly that the cab ride cost you almost $50.
$30 is way too much to pay him, and $50 is $20 over the normal Genesis fee.

When never ever take a taxi to an MP because the price will double on you, which it almost did at Genesis. Most taxi get a commission from the MP which they just add to the cost of goods (chicas).

The moment you said take me to an MP to that taxi driver he lite up like a Christmas tree.

Most of the MPs in town have been posted here with nearby landmarks always have the taxi drop you off there and walk to your MP. For Genesis that would be the General Hospital. It is 3 or so blocks from there.

Cruised by Monday outta curiosity. Deadsville. JBs is a decent looking bar with decor, but smelled like a mexican tiled-wall pisser and stale cerveza. The door leading upstairs was locked. Went to genesis and analee today. I didn't see anyone I knew and I have been going there for well over a year. I wonder if they sold it. After reading various posts on this form about how caucasions normally get a "free pass" crossing the bridge, I wish any of you could have been with this (middle aged) caucasion about 6 A.M. this morning crossing the Ysleta Bridge to go to work.

I already knew I was in the wrong lane because my lane was moving slower than the others, so when I pulled up this "inspector" did not even ask me my citizenship when I handed him my BC and drivers licence. He asked, in order: 1- What was the purpose of your trip to Mexico? 2- Is this your car? 3- How long have you had this car? 4- Do you take this car to Mexico very often? Then he said, "open the trunk." I opened the trunk and wanted to watch this pinche maldido (S.O.B.) check my trunk. So he said, "move over to the side of the car." Finally, he grunted and handed my BC and driver's license back.

BOTTOM LINE: No way, Jose, was this caucasion treated decently on the damn bridge this morning. So I do NOT buy into this false idea at all.

One thing any of you should do, and I damn near did: If you are mistreated by one of these turkeys (CBP officers think they'r invincible as well), you can verify their names and say you will be in contact with Ms. Mullins, who is the boss of all of them (she works downtown) and report to her how you were treated. She does not condone bad treatment of people returning to the U.S. by her beloved "inspectors."

Again, and it apparently bears repeating: Right now you need a valid Texas ID (driver's license) and a birth certificate to return to the U.S., OR, you need a passport. It will be this way until June, 2009, when a passport will be the ONLY option.
