Me and a wingman were in front of Help when a taxi pulled up and 2 fine chicks got out. We started talking to them and they said they were just coming from work. Which for you is high, for many others is cheap. I choose always a quality instead of quantity. No reason to fight about Vila Mimosa. Some like it and others don't. I hope VM will never attract to many gringos as they may spoil the girls by tipping them.

VM is unique. A monger zone with 72 casas and 1500 girls (used to be at least) working. The atmosphere is something extraordinary. Filthy streets, dogs running loose, very loud funk music and lots of funny characters. In VM you can see weird things going on that you won't find in any other place in Brazil.

The majority of the girls/women are not doable. About 10% are doable, and out of these there are always some real gems. I enjoy VM a lot, it's great fun. I like to peek into every casa in search for the gems.

The downside is the filthy cabins and the lack of showers for the clients. Actually some of the 72 casas have decent cabins, even with clean sheets. If you find a special gem you can bring her to the motel, Hotel Canário, 2 minutes walk away.

Nobody enjoys a filthy bed. The girls do bring their own sheets, but this doesn't mean that these sheets are clean. Depending on the positions you can cover the sheets with some of your clothes.

Unfortunately VM has gone downhill. There used to be much more girls working there, and there were also more gems. Now it's harder to find the real quality girls. During many years the price was R$25/session. Gradually the prices have gone up to about R$60. That's not very priceworthy considering there are privées that charges roughly the same price including clean sheets and shower before and after.

I respectfully disagree with you on this. I think its perfectly reasonable for prostitutes to have dignity and self worth. It is society that attempts to deny them dignity. IMO they are sex workers, just as porn actors are sex workers. Both groups are about the only remaining groups that are not yet given any respect. Every other group has now achieved some degree of respect, gays, minorities, transgenders, etc. But its still OK to disrespect sex workers? I think that is wrong. I think sex workers should be respected and allowed to have dignity like any other profession. Its not their fault that they are denied respect, its the fault of the rest of society that has antiquated ideas about sexuality and sexual freedom.

Unlike Traveller I do not blame the women who work in VM for the conditions there. They are desperate women, or new to the business. I don't like the place, but I don't disrespect those that work there or those that go there. I am glad that more and more GPS are moving online and working free lance. This allows them to control their work environment more and be more independent. It can work out better for both clients and providers.

In my experience, most of the GPS I have met in Brazil have as much or more dignity than most of the people I know in other professions. They are students, or single mothers or daughters caring for elderly parents. I know several that have bought homes for their parents and or other family members, or paid for the tuition of their siblings with the money they make. Many of them are better people than I, and I venture better than many on this board.
