I don't go to Medellin for the food or to shop. And none of the non-P4P girls that I go out with have a problem with staying downtown. (LOL. After all, aren't 99.99% of the people staying in downtown hotels locals?) As a matter of fact, one of them called to book it for me for my next stay at the end of the week. I am not out to try to impress a chica. They need to be trying to impress me.

I was in Havana last November and a middle-aged Colombian couple was staying in the same casa as me. They told me they were having a hell of a time understanding the Cubanos. Probably the same dynamic as me (from the Midwest US) in Scotland a few years ago having difficulty understanding the locals.

Be careful with persons that have economic interest in scaring you to stay in overpriced stuck up foreigner ghettos like Poblado!

But don't forget lower places some of these dimes who don't have a baller stays in lower tier neighborhood example Bello and Rio Negro.

I like the total hobbying pleasurable experience. For me it means enjoying the facilities at the Four Points by Sheraton in Poblado with easy access to restaurants, supermarkets, malls, etc. In a relaxed and secure environment. Call a cab and within minutes I'm in an El Centro casa rubbing shoulders with the Centro resident guys. A win / win situation for me.
