Look I met a Thai girl, probably the same one, who was widely travelled could speak German and English fluently and looked quite good, but she couldn't hold on to a steady boyfriend becaise she a loose cavenous pussy.

My ex GF (long ago) lost her wallet in the bus containing a very large amount of cash (against my advice). The Thai bus cleaner handed it in without even looking how much was in there I guess, so she unexpectedly got it back 2 hours later. There are absolutely honest Thai people (but not all) as in any other Country

OTH, I was taking issue with your broad brush generalization where you stated that "nothing" was going through her head, as "these girls are as dumb as posts". Even if that is PREDOMINANTLY accurate, it is surely not ALWAYS accurate. And I reitterate, that if you had an open mind about it, you would find exceptions to this generalizations.

I have been to LOS about 8 times, and have spent around 6 months in the country over the past few years. In that time, I have surely shagged well over a hundred women. And in that time, I have met 3 of them who had enough going on upstairs that I would have or in fact did consider a more substantial relationship than to just bang and pay. My point is simply that there are always exceptions to the type of sweeping generalization that you made, and we are all better off to keep that in mind.

OTH is not the only poster who makes sweeping generalizations about Thai woman, men and other Asians. This thread is predominantly the domain of those from the US, Australia, Europe and Canada. They are frequent visitors and english language skilled countries. I think most of them are standup guys, but the "I'm superior crowd", put's a bad face on those from those countries. I see it week after week, that some derogatory remark is made about Asians, and none made about Caucasians.

I may start posting a comparable comment regarding Caucasians, for every deragatory comment regarding Asians, if that is what it will take to highlight this problem. See Evil's recent posts as an example. I generally like his story telling posts, and believe for the most part that he is a gentleman, but I draw the line at his sweeping generalizations of Asians. He has a blind spot in this regard. It's ironic that he understands there is no universal agreement in terms of beauty, but seems to have universal views regarding Asians.

Asians have their own websites in their native languages and are for the most part, not here to defend themselves. I find some of the pompous comments by these racist types, a sign of pure ignorance. After years of this, I am quite frankly, getting tired of it. I do believe some of their comments are made simply to get a rise out of people, to add some excitement to their otherwise boring lives. Who knows.

Unfortunately, these type of people just don't care who they offend, and I doubt it will stop. Maybe reporting them to Jackson is the only answer or maybe restricting their dumb ass race related views to the Fight Club thread.

You clearly didn't read my post closely enough and obviously didn't understand what I was specifically talking about.

I wasn't criticizing Asian intelligence, but Thai intelligence. It has nothing to do with racism at all. It is an attitude developed from teaching thousands of Thai students and working with hundreds of Thais over almost a dozen years.

In contrast, I think the the Chinese, for example are among the most intelligent people in the world and probably will take over eventually. The best students in Thai schools are almost always the Thai-Chinese. The Thai-Thai students lag far behind and are uninterested in learning and generally are completely incapable of critical thought. I also admire the Vietnamese for their tenacity and drive to succeed and can say that some of my best students in the past were Vietnamese. I currently have some Taiwanese international students and they are kicking the shit out of the Thai students, not merely in intelligence, but skill, committment and maturity. Hand-in-hand with the Thais lack of intelligence is their incredible immaturity. That's a topic for another post. I could give thousands of examples.

I also agree that one could criticize large segments of the Caucasian population throughout the world and it seems that the biggest morons and knuckle-draggers from that group somehow find there way here on their yearly holidays.

They aren't sweeping generalizations when one has extremely extensive experience with the population and thus can draw a well-informed conclusion. Your experience in a mere 8 visits and the shagging of well over a 100 hookers (a very narrow segment of society) doesn't qualify you, in my book to make an assessment of the intelligence of Thai people. You have even stated in your post that in the well over 100 that you have met 3 that were intelligent. That's statistically a pretty insignifcant number. Sure, there are exceptions and I acknowledged that. But, unfortunately they are few and far between.

Overall, there is nothing arrogant or condescending about my comments. It's simply the truth based on years of continued experience. I didn't arrive here thinking I was superior and that Thais were stupid. But, if you work with them and certainly if you teach them (I should say 'TRY' to teach them) for any length of time, this is unfortunately the opinion you arrive at.


Anyway, I'm glad I could stir things up again. This board has been incredibly boring for a long time. If the Traveler is out there, maybe he could weigh in on this. I'm sure he'd side with the Thais, since he admires them so much. ;)

It's a more than sufficient number to prove that your sweeping generalization is not ALWAYS true, and is thus an example of prejudice on your part. Of course, the fact that you are obviously a bigot is clear to most folks other than yourself, but that is to be expected. You just don't seem to get it.

I'm an academic and therefore, I deal with the weight of overwhelming proof on any issue. 3 out of over 100 would hardly count in most studies. I would say that in fact, you're the one making sweeping generalizations based on your very limited experience. I never said that there weren't exceptions. Of course there are always exceptions. Of course there are intelligent Thais. But, if I examine your proof and round it down, for the sake of argument, you're saying that 3% are intelligent. That's not very convincing evidence to counter my opinion.

For all the horrified, self-righteous "PC" outsiders who seem to take exception to my view here, I'd like to put you in a Thai classroom for just a day, and see how your opinions hold up under the overbearing indifference and frustratingly uninterested students that one has to deal with. I always find it amusing that you holiday makers can pass judgement, when you know nothing about the issue at hand. Hanging out, only with girls in P4P gives you almost zero insight into the country, the culture and its people. Even the retirees living down in Pattaya know shit about Thailand because they live in a bubble. And, I've already stated that most Farang guys stupid enough to move upcountry and live in their reformed, rent-a-ho GF's village have almost invariably gone through some dumbing -down process and have become as stupid as the natives.

There always seems to to be an unfounded-reverence for Thais, especially girls in P4P on this board. The threads are filled with whimpers of longing for a return to LOS. There is salivating over the imminent prospect of retiring to some hastily-erected shack in Pattaya so that one can spend one's twilight years toddling down to the bars to get a daily fix of the good life. All of it is a view of Thailand through rose-cloured glasses filtered, as they are with visions of cheap pussy. That's all well and good. But, most of you need a reality check. No place is in fact as good as it seems on holiday. Nor, are the people quite as wonderful as they may seem on what is in the end, a very cursory examination.

I do wonder why everyone is getting their knickers in a knot about this, though. You guys just come here to fuck hookers. Why do you care if they are intelligent and even think, or not, as long as they provide the service that you (over)pay for?

i get it fine. btw, since you apparently seem to think i'll be cowed by your supposed credentials, i'm a professional mathematical economist with advanced degrees in applied math, computer science and econometrics from a couple of the most distinguished universities on the planet. (hint, one's in the ivy league, the other is known as the place that gave us milton friedman, george stigler, gary becker, merton miller, etc, etc). oh, and 25 years in the field actually using those skills at senior levels in the private sector, prior to retiring in my late 40s to enjoy the assets i've accrued.

it happens to be a high-school level technical mistake to conclude from statistical preponderance of evidence about a general population that the specific trait applies to all members of that population - which is exactly what you did in this specific case. were you to make the same generalization you did here in a professional context before your peers (if there are any), you would be laughed out of the joint. what you actually did was demonstrate in the generalization you made that you are, in fact, a bigot.

Having lived/worked in Thailand for a few years, it is apparent to me that OTH has some very valid and well constructed points. i wasn't trying to hold my credentials over your head. that's not really key to the point, anyway. my having lived here for 11 years versus your eight visits and 100+ shags of a narrow sector of the populace, not to mention that i've never lived in some farang enclave, but have always been in the midst of thais and have daily experience with these people in a very intense way qualifies me to make educated, broad-based assumptions. your opinions based on your extremely limited experience as a visitor and absolutely no day-to-day living experience over any appreciable amount of time makes youre views irrelevant.

going back to my original comment (i.e. the girl is probably thinking of nothing more than eating) isn't actually that far from the likely scenario. when i first arrived here, i worked at the nation and the joke around the office was that when they weren't eating, the thais were usually talking about what they had just eaten and what they were going to eat next. having spent my first year in thailand in this work environment with everyone from lowly secretaries to celebrated journalists, i was amazed at the time at how shallow they all seemed given their apparent education and supposed intellect. and, while i'm really not trying for one upmanship on your bragging rights (shagging rights???), i've probably shagged well over 500 tgs and i don't think in all of those, i found too many who were worth talking to for more than a limited amount of time.

I have been following this for a while and all I can say is, lay off OTH.

You have to know that this is one guy who has left his motherland in order to make (sorry, teach) the less intellectuals (some poster said the Thais score less on IQ ratings than Westerners) to come up to par. So he has embarked upon his missions, to f**k the less intelligent, Hi-So society students (but not his students but others in his college) so that hopefully they will become as smart as he is.

He never dates the darker girls (darker they are, the less intellectual they are, aren't they), has connections all the way up to the top, and in his few years in Thailand knows more about their culture than the natives. Yes sir, he is indeed an intellectual. (Though he couldn't compete with it in his homeland).

So, the rest of the visitors cannot even begin to be in his esteemed league. No sir, we visitors have even less IQ. So if we respect the Thais it always seems to to be an unfounded-reverence for Thais, P4P or otherwise. ( I never thought that respect equalled unfounded-reverance, but then what do I know, as a visitor).
