Work brings me to this city for the first time on my worldly travels, but I have been RTFF like a kid prepping for the SAT's beforehand. My plan is to squeeze in time for as much ground level intel on Montevideo as possible for this forum, as reporting here seems to be sorely in need of some updating. (and I DO so enjoy the work!)

But first, a tip of the hat to World Traveler 69 for his encyclopedic if not truly EPIC 'lists' included elsewhere in this website. They have proven to be as good a place as any to start my foray into the current mongering world of Montevideo.

Arriving late Sunday, I was able to make some phone arrangements for encounters with a couple of chicas advertising on the Internet. But more on that later in the week.

I took WT69's list and broke down my hunting grounds by area, as he so conveniently arranged them. Decided on el Centro area first. Started with 'Le Cumbre', a massage place at 872 Paysandu about 8 PM. Only three fugly chicas on hand, and they wanted 400 pesos for 1/2 hour. It has been almost 4 years to the day since I was in MVD, and I too had a lot of fun! Irina is a treat, and Sweet, if is the same place I recall was worth the wait, but just barely. But I discretely knocked at the door anyway and a smiling Mamasan soon escorted me in. I took notice of the tasteful, understated and upscale decor, but only for a moment as I was also shortly 'swarmed' by a half dozen playful and gorgeous divas giving me kisses and introducing themselves. If you've stuck with these field reports for Montevideo so far, I'd like to offer up a bit of an overview of mongering in this city. Strictly my personal opinions, observations, and some random thoughts, of course. But I hope they might prove to be a bit of help for someone else in the near future. Especially for a neophyte such as myself.

As often said elsewhere on this thread, MVD probably wouldn't rate as a true Monger Destination. While in no way approaching Macau, the Philippines, or even Panama for that matter in my limited world experiences, it never-the-less certainly offers up a lot of fun for the casual business traveler who wants to do a bit of 'hunting' on the side. As to whether or not it warrants a side trip over from Buenos Aires I could not say, having only been in BA a few times and strictly for business. Perhaps our esteemed host, Jackson, could weigh in on this subject some time. From what I read on the BA thread though, I suspect it's not worth the time, and 'veggie' tourism sites are somewhat limited here in MVD as well. On the other hand, it's interesting to note that more than one Casa chica assured me prostitution was quite legal here in the city-but only IN THE CASAS, with each girl required to carry a government issued health card verifying a monthly examination. And there seems to be at least some overt tolerance of SW action as well, as I've noted elsewhere, even though I'm sure the SW's don't carry such documentation.

But if you happen to be a 'Great White Punter', forget about drawing any chica's attention with your good looks, athletic build or 'exotic' fair complexion with blue eyes and blonde hair like you THINK you get away with in Asia, Africa, or even other parts of South America. You will not merit even a second glance here.

And now a few comments about more practical matters:

One could easily bang your fill of chicas here for as little as $20-25 a pop, a value by almost standard, but you should probably budget at least $50 a throw for a really decent puta.

Taxis will run you $5-7 a trip just about anywhere you go in the central part of town. A decent value, but you can still spend a surprisingly high amount for transportation without realizing it. Budget accordingly. Taxis are 'all over the place', and by that I mean you will see them everywhere when you don't need one, and not a frickin' one seems to be around when you do! 3-4 PM is the shift change hour and they can get real scarce at times. But any Casa will quickly call a cab for you if requested, and they are all metered, so no worries about negotiating the cost beforehand or facing rip-off pricing.

Back to some basics about our 'chosen hobby'. One can hit any number of low to high end brothels, and I think I stepped into a dozen or more myself. As previously mentioned, I found WT69's List found elsewhere on this forum to be absolutely essential, though I barely scratched the surface of what was truly available in my 5 days of field work. I salute you once again, World Traveler 69, for your monumental document! With this invaluable tool and any decent hotel map, you can find your desired destination with ease. The buildings are generally well numbered and the streets well marked. One helpful hint is the fact that taxi drivers will generally ask you for the names of the two streets forming the nearest corner of your destination rather than the street number. Again, the List usually contains this information as well. Many taxistas, by the way, seemed to know the names and locations of a handful of Casas, and a suggestion or two on their part may be of some help. But they certainly would not have the encyclopedic knowledge contained in 'The List. '

The female population in general and even the P4P mujares I encountered, thankfully, sported very few tattoos. I realize personal tastes dictate one's thoughts on the subject, but the ladies of MVD seemed content to let those fine figures and exquisite complexions do all the talking. If you are a fan of ink you may see a 'tramp stamp' or small piercing or two, but it's minimal.

And just for the record, I was willingly offered up 'the cola' EVERY time I inquired, never turned down even once, though also always for an additional tariff. Guess that's what happens when you do this kind of work so close to the Brazilian border!

Though I never got the chance to partake, I did find one taxista who seemed quite knowledgeable about the SW situation in town and indicated there were several different strolls of varying quality and price. As related previously I personally saw 3 on the Rambla (the broad boulevard fronting the entire city along the riverfront) in the Buseo neighborhood about 10 PM one evening, and at $50 USD, they all looked far better than just about any SW I've ever seem in the States. Cruising seedier parts of town, just for the fun of seeking out really low-end poony with a willing taxista might prove interesting, as well.

BTW, this same cabbie assured me that the Casa 'Dulce Vita', favorably reviewed some time ago on this thread, at 6277 Siria out near the airport in Currasco, is now closed. I couldn't double-confirm this claim, but you may wish to inquire elsewhere and save yourself the cost and time of a 30 minute cab ride if that truly is the case. Interestingly, virtually every Casa or other site I visited on WT69's latest 'List' (2010?) was still in operation.

My work schedule prevented me from hitting any of the strip bars on the List and reviewed elsewhere on this forum as they appear to only be open for the enjoyment of late night Punters. On the other hand, it was nice to see many of the Casas opening at least fairly early in the late morning, early afternoon, some as early as 9 AM, and a few running 24 hours, providing lots of day time opportunities with some very willing chicas.
