I spent last night with a middle manager from the Jakarta branch of an international company who is a graduate of a university in America. I am an American college graduate and it would be impossible for her to bluff me on that. Early in the week I went to classic where the girl I went to the room with told me she was working there because she got screwed out 14 mil and had to pay off her debt. She says her cut from each session is 100,000 rupiah and that she was recruited to Classic from some kampung in Sumatra by a tik-tok ad. There is a reason for my concern, though which the western folks won't understand. Immigration officers tend to scrutinize certain Asian passport holders traveling solo because some try to migrate illegally for work. I travel there from the UK so it doesn't really matter for me but it makes me a bit nervous and wanted to know how others handle the tourism part in a city with no tourism. I don't want to get delayed at immigration in a country where language is a huge barrier and they dig all the details about my current and previous visits. Maybe I should say it commonly as Vacation instead of tourism like Gabacho suggested.

Neutral means he / she doesn't give a crap why you're entering Indonesia. Vacation is the simplest answer. If and only if he asks what you plan on doing make something up like you're a food vlogger and you like Indonesian cuisine (maybe learn the names of the most popular dishes if you're paranoid). Tons of BS answers you can make up on the spot only if needed.

You mentioned no tourism in Indonesia? Bali is one of the most popular beach cities in the world. The IO doesn't know if you're only in Jakarta for 1 night then leaving for Bali the next morning.

I've never heard of a single person having issues entering Indonesia. It's not Thailand.
