Genuine Question About Immigration.
I've been to Jakarta three times so far. Once as a 2 day stopover on my way to Bali, and twice exclusively for mongering. Each time, when the immigration officer asked if I was there for business or tourism, I said tourism. Their response was always neutral, but it made me feel a bit awkward.
I admit it doesn't seem like the kind of place where most tourists would spend 10 days, let alone visit 2 or 3 times a year. I've thought about saying I'm visiting places like Yogyakarta or Bali after a few nights in Jakarta, but officers always ask for return flight tickets and hotel bookings. I know it's possible to show refundable bookings to back this up, but is that really necessary? Or am I just overthinking this?
What do you usually say during your visits? Would love to hear your experiences and advice!
You are way over thinking this.
I just said I was here for vacation and that's all the dude cared about. That's all I ever say to any immigration officer anywhere I go. It is technically true anyways, we are all here on vacation we just also fuck and get sucked while on vacation.
