Sentri were being allowed through but the main line was stopped.

What ended up happening was about 40-50 people were on the right side (what looked like a handicap line) and the main line was on the left side. Before the line opened back up the lady running the show went and talked to the officers checking passports. It looked like both USA and Mexico officers were up there. A couple minutes after that the officers at the gate start allowing people through and the two lines merge.

My guess is if the lines are moving it is just a merging thing going on you talking about.

I think the last part of your post was the Sentri line.

If it was just some dude not working with the policia or officers at the gate maybe I would agree.

From what I saw what is going on is just as valid as the shuttle passes. They essentially picking people up at about the same spot and bringing them to the front of the line in different ways.

Not sure if it is official on any level in the government but it looked about as legit as the shuttle service to me.

Its a total scam. One time one of those guide dudes brought 4 people up. There was not much of a handicap line at the time and they stepped into the general line in front of us. We told them the line is way back there, they didn't budge so walked up to cbp and pointed out the line cutters. They then new the gig was up and left the line. They then went to talk to the dude they payed out of view from cbp. They waited there until the line started to move and then 2 of them joined the handicap line.

I'm sure cbp is not in on the scam but Tijuana police is probably a different story. The solution would be for cbp to call up the handicap line first instead of letting the lines merge. They could then weed out those that don't belong in the handicap line.

Don't confuse the lines of all male Mexicans lined up at the far right. Not sure what that is all about, but when they let them in they go into the old building to the right once they are sent through.

If you see a doctor or a dentist, most will hand out a type of "fast pass" that will get you to the front of the line.

SD newspapers have far less influence in Mexico than Yelp.

Again, CBP has no jurisdiction over Mexican lines or anything else that happens on the Mexican side of the border.

At the risk of being redundant, CBP doesn't care. They have no control over what happens in the line on the Mexican side. They only have control over who passes through their checkpoint. The agents' responsibility at the first entry point is solely line movement control and documentation. Oh, there may be that very rare CBP agent who may stall your entry for an hour or two if they see you cut line (or somebody rats you out) but I've only seen it happen maybe once or twice ever.

Years ago, I duked it out with a taxista who was trying to scam me. After it became obvious he couldn't win, 10 or 15 of his taxista buds jumped in and I had to draw my knife because I was carrying a bag I couldn't turn loose. Fortunately, we were near the office of a doctor I know and I ducked in his office. They tried to follow but he had seen the commotion and called his security and dog-cussed them in Spanish. Merchants don't want any part of that shit and they will take your side especially if they know you or think you might buy something.

Another time, a taxivan driver tried to fight me over 5 pesos. It was the hardest 5 pesos he never earned.

About 5 years ago, I put a knife in the belly of a thug who was trying to break in on me. He was so stoned he hardly noticed but his companion thugs did and got him the hell out of there.

I'm a foot taller than 99% of the population of Baja and I pump iron every day, so outside of those three, nobody down here has ever tried to fuck with me. If you're not a midget or helpless, your experience will probably be similar.

BUT, and this is an important but: It's not a good idea to fuck with people off the street down here unless you have to. Nearly everybody has a cousin who is a cop or cartel and they can fuck your life up bad. Better to walk and live to fight another day.
