no not the bar helpeeee................billy has a dilemna.
as a result of a fucked up plane scheduling change i now arrive lax at 16.30 on sept 15.
i cannot for the life of me find any airlines / connections that will get me out of lax and on the way to gig at that time of afternoon / evening so i can arrive on sept 16.
would appreciate any advice from any of you rio sexperts.

Of course, its no hard to find a GDP here who will go down on my girlfriend. I have been coming to Brazil 10+ times a year since 2002, and I know the scene well.
However, hunting through HELP or sitting in Maia Pateca is not what I am want to do. I want a recommendation from someone who knows the girl is really bi and is really "nice" (i.e., carinhosa). the latest dept from lax that i can find to arrive on the 16th is co594 via iah it departs at 14:25 so you would need to be in lax by noon. can you get to iah for the 21:15 departure?

catch mexicana 905 from lax at 5:55 pm to mexico city (mex) with scheduled arrival at 11:35 pm.
then catch mexicana flight 375 from mexico city to caracas (ccs) at 01:05 am on sept 16th arriving at 6:30 am
then catch tam flight 8051 from caracas (ccs) at 10:20 am to sao paulo which continues on to rio de janeiro arriving at 7:20 pm.

Yes - you can do it Billy.
I went on expedia and broke it into two flights.
LAX to Caracas (specify Mexicana Airlines under expanded options)
It will cost you $1,050 and arrives at 6:30 AM.
The second flight is from Caracas to Rio on TAM 8051 for $455 and does not leave Caracas until 10:20 AM so you have plenty of time to re-check in. A visa is not required for US citizens carrying a valid passport.

unless money is not an issue and you can take all these funky connections, you are pretty much f.u.c.k.e.d. sorry but this is life. why not take it easy and wait in la and leave on the 16th aa 1520 lax to mia at 12:10 pm and aa 905 mia gig leaving at 11:10 pm arriving gig at 8:50 am.
yes you are arriving 1/2 a day later, but is one smooth shot, one airline, and decent planes. as far as service goes, if you are in business or first class you have it made, otherwise, you are f.u.c.k.e.d again ...sorry but this is us airlines for you.

You may fly free to LA but for the added round trip cost of LA to Rio through all the funky connections, you would be better off saving your miles and paying for direct flights from Sydney to Rio.

This latest round of Help closing started in February 2008, when the articles appeared in O Globo about the Governor of Rio Expropriating Help to put a musuem there. It sounded serious then as it does now and if you check this forumn or any other forumn Help was doomed in no time, that was 18 months ago and it's still open.
So we could be here in another 18 months from now(wishful thinking) asking the same question or we can be asking where did the girls end up.
Either way you will still find many girls at night in Copa near Help if it closes, they will just be spread out a little bit more.
Montecarlo currently offers an excellent rate for euros at 1€ = 2,80 R$; didn't find better anywhere in town.
