However, I personally don't think we are witnessing what you say. Just last month, I could walk out of my hotel at ALMOST any time, and be back with a TG looking to make some money within an hours time. Any guy could. I'd even bet on it, and I'm not a betting man. When I was in the Biergarten last month, there were plenty of women in there. At times I'd bet the ration was easily 12 to 1. I'm not stretching those number either.
There are freelancers all over the place in BKK. All you have to do is walk down the Soi Sukhumvit for starters. It's like spearing fish in a barrel.

I think you have it wrong. Inflation is biting, even in Thailand. Price of fuel is rising fast (well over 30 baht a litre now), price of rice is rising fast as with other staple foods.
The average mongerer in the BG is looking for cheap, and the girls are realising that there are other alternatives to loitering at the BG. They can move on to Gullivers, Absolute, Thermae and other places and get more than the average punter in the BG will pay. They can move into massage parlours where they can earn 1500B for a single shot and some massage.
The girls are attracted to money (its their job) just as the guys are attracted to lots of girls.
If the BG was a place where they could get 1500B every time, it would be full, but now as we enter low season, with lots of regulars, and most wanting to pay only 500B short time, there is no reason for the girls to go to the BG.
The increase in the non P4P customers is that the BG area represents a little of what Thailand used to be. Its not ice cold air conditioned, there are some good open air Thai food stalls opposite, its lots of people in a bar without deafening music, where human kind mingles into one.
As the amount of open air bars dwindles down to nearly nothing, perhaps the old fashioned Soi 7 BG area style is what people look for in a Thailand experience. If they want air con bars, air con restaurants serving western food. They could have stayed at home. Sadly Bangkok is turning into "just another concrete jungle" and all what was fun about Sukhumvit, is now getting ripped down and replaced with yet more concrete monsters.
Soi 7 and the BG and that area still represents what things used to be like. A little time warp, that appears to be attracting more and more people.

Street freelancer count seemed low when I was there recently. Car park had two or three scary toothless hags. And my walk through the Nana Hotel lobby made my nuts shrivel.

A go-go bar next to Super Pussy. Rates quoted for stunners were 5000 for 1 pop. A visit to CM2 for review of local action surprised me as well. 10000 baht for 1 pop.
So I guess something wrong is with me given that noone have entertained discount talk. I left back to hotel without any action. I'm not ready to pay for that type of quality that much.

Atleast you didn't pay it. But I seriously have to question how you approached them, how you dressed, how you acted etc.... You could be the scum of the earth and get lower prices easily.
On the other side of the scale, when I'm in my suit and go straight from work or meetings or such prices for me start double or triple the normal rate and when they learn I'm not falling for that line of BS it goes to normal. I had a girl at Beer Garden ask for 8,000 baht for an afternoon sessions, got it down to 1,000 for two pops and some drinks.

You are a hard man. But i guess you are anticipating a future contact asking for assistance on a medical bill.
Best to stick to the rule: Give money for services rendered and not before. If you pay first you will probably never get the service to cover what you paid.
And GFs always seem to work out more expensive (time and money) than P4P, unless you managed to get a rich one.
The best way out is to state that you have a wife or GF (even if you actually don't) and that while you can play up, you can't get involved.

As I'm sure you know I've gone out with her many times but never have slept with her as she's a friend of a friend. But I hear she's a great time and a pleasure to be with for long time even up to weeks at a time.
She want's a good tee rak, like they all do, but she won't fall for BS. She knows the games we play and if you give her BS then she's a perfectly willing co star of your act. That is until someone takes her out of the business.
Guess i touched a senstiive nerve.
I've actually known Tack for more than 2 yrs now and always buy her drinks, play pool etc but no BF. She's a good 'friend' of one of my wingman from states, and I've even called him long distance from the bar for her to chit chat with him. He (and she) understands the 'score'. I will continue to treat her nicely....she's lots of fun and has great attitude. And as you have all said, she treats her customers real well, very GFE, etc.
My post was less directed at Tack than a general comment about what happens with the 'first email' or 'sms'....if you go back to stif oak's first reports, he's got some 'feeling' for her ;)
We all know why we're in p4p - "pay them to leave and not to stay" IMHO
