All to save $20? When you are tired, jet lagged and need an immediate shower / beer / BJ / nap?
Yeah I don't get it.
I use Mr. Virach and he always gets me from the airport to the front door of my accommodations for 1000 baht.
We were talking about the trip from Ekkamai to Pattaya. That's usually not the route one takes from the airport to Pattaya.
I don't get it that people want to go straight to Pattaya immediately after arrival, tired and jet lagged.
For the first one or two nights I always book a hotel in Bangkok. Much quicker and easier to reach, either by taxi or by train and BTS.
So when I go to Pattaya I'm usually not tired and jet lagged anymore.

So when I go to Pattaya I'm usually not tired and jet lagged anymore.
Which doesn't change the fact that as much one spares himself motorbike and baht buses rides, the better. I understand their usefulness, it's just that they are not my thing, and never will be.

Door-to-door service or private car with AC is the answer for normal Westerners. Of course if one comes from a culture of constant haggling, little personal hygiene and continuous honking, riding motorbikes and baht buses in Thailand must be no big deal, or even appealing.

This was my first direct-to-Pattaya trip. It was 24 hours airport-to-airport so I certainly was jet-lagged, but flopping into a nice sedan and checking into my room by midnight sure seems like it was a best-case scenario. I can be jet-lagged in BKK and have to check out and into hotels in a day or two, or I can be jet-lagged in Pattaya and and just lie around. Not that that was going to happen, though.
Not for me!
My first trip to Thailand I took the slow bus to Pattyaa from Ekkamai. I think it took 4-5 hours. No AC. And the bus stopped at every little town to pick up people. Plus I was staying in Jomtien and had no idea how to get there from where they dropped me off.
I was so wiped out by the time I got to Patts I just flopped in the bed and slept 11 hours. And this was after 3 days in BKK, so it wasn't jet lag.
Never again!

The same identical fuck-up that I did when I was thinking it was cool to play Mr. Old Backpacker of the Cheap Asses.
Or when I though I was being "an alternative sex traveler" taking the bus from Phuket Airport to Town, just to find a desolated short row of Coyote Clubs and rental shops that wouldn't let me touch a bike without sequestering my passport.
They say, cheap with the penny, fool with the pound, I'm afraid that applies to a lot of foreigners in Thailand that for whatever reason feel the need to denigrate themselves.
Though I'd never do it again, I am kind of glad I did. It was cool to see the way regular people live and I had fun chatting with the school kids that use the bus to go form school to their neighboring villages.
But with the heat it was absolutely exhausting. Now that I'v e been through the experience I would not repeat it ever again.

Never again!
Nowadays there's an airconditioned and reasonably comfortable bus that doesn't stop everywhere and goes straight to Pattaya.
From Ekkamai it usually takes 2 to 3 hours depending on traffic and from the airport 1,5 to 2 hours.

Still pretty beat from the trip over, yesterday I didn't venture from the condo complex until it was time to go to Walking Street. Not much to report. Tried Skyfall. A handful of doables if I were into the BF thing. Overall maybe above average largely because of the relative paucity of below average girls.
Moved on to Wildcats. Really no one there that caught my attention, though I do think there are fewer tats per square foot of dancer than in most bars nowadays. One plus was that instead of the ubiquitous sporting events on the bar TV's there was some German porn cartoon running. It had a vintage look to it and that is reinforced by the obvious lack of child labor laws in its era: The thing was clearly drawn by elementary school children, and not the artistically gifted. Also, they had obviously been molested by men with French bread sized equipment. The plot was hard to follow as it seemed to have a lot of twists and turns, plus who really wants to be caught watching child-drawn porn when the real thing was there to be watched? So the viewing was sporadic but one can only admire the directing ability to somehow segue from a scene involving a guy derailing a train by intentionally putting his dick on the track (in truth, trains derailed a lot back then, and the train in question looked like something an eight year old would draw) to a scene with a woman having her womanly orifice cleaned by a chimney sweep.
But back to reality, where some blessing rite involving two dancers clanging the crap out of the bells for about two minutes as a naked dancer orbited the room blessing people and objects with a drink she was carrying, or perhaps her [CodeWord109] sample. It was deafening and convinced me to leave even though I'll never know if the woman in the cartoon ever got everything, including household items, vacuumed from her apparently very commodious womanly parts.
A few bars later I was back at Heaven Above to see if the Laughing Lesbians were back at it. No, though I did see one on stage. Unfortunately she soon left with another customer and the day before's Miss Halitosis spotted me so I fled.
Today I got a demonstration of carpe diem: I had opted to skip Kinnaree Place yesterday as the Saturday BBQ scene didn't appeal to me. That was a mistake. As I was getting ready for the trek over there today the heavens opened up and my plans were washed away in the downpour. I'll have to put it as a higher priority on my trip this fall. Too bad, it really sounds good.
Instead, when things had dried a bit I headed for Bliss Lounge, deciding that I would risk the Barbie / Ken helmet ripping my scalp open. Oh! What we won't do for a blow job! It turned out I needn't have fretted: Neither coming nor going was I offered a helmet. The Bliss entrance has been renovated since my last visit. Now they are setting up an area with moderate A / see for the girls to sit in instead of out in the heat and noise of 3rd Road. I sweat enough for both of us: I don't need a sweaty sucker as well. I got a not unfortunate looking lass as first in queue and she did an awesome job. Great work ethic, lots of tongue, no bitching about the geologic era changing before the geyser spewed forth, nor about the inappropriate places the geyser ended up.
This evening I took the Baht Bus to Walking Street, making two trips in a row that actually went where I expected them to and raising my batting average in that department to. 500. I know it's not rocket science but I have a troubled history with those damned things. Still prefer the motos.

Under these circumstances an extra $20 does not seem all that much to pay.
But to each his own. The main thing is that we get to the Mongering Mecca. The conveyance we use does not matter all that much).
Under these circumstances an extra $20 does not seem all that much to pay.
I have to side with this. When I'm coming off a 20 hour flight I want to arrive at my hotel ASAP to get some rest. Paying $20 more for door to door taxi is the last thing on my mind.

Too bad.
Anyone have updates on the other G-clubs around? Not even sure which ones are still open. M, Venus, Winchester, Rioja, Passion (may have got shut down), Jade House, Viper (rumors it has been shut down), 007, Club 4, and a bunch on the Dark Side. I know guys post about Telephone Bar and La Poste but we don't hear much about the rest of them. I'll eventually get around to all of them but a heads up on some to be avoided would be appreciated.

Difficult to find in the clubs you've mentioned the same Kinnaree's good looking girls.
