Unfortunately, this is not new to Ecuador. It's been about 10 years since I lived there, but that was a daily problem for this time of year. It affected every city and you just had to learn how to adjust. Most hotels, hostels, restaurants and even certain night clubs, and locations that do not exist anymore had generators. I personally wouldn't change my vacation plans.

libido enhancing medication: the usual stuff (viagra, etc) is available in pharmacies. no prescription needed. i don`t know if any legitimate medicine that makes you prodcue more semen.

You are not alone. Ecuador = land of cheap pussy but hardly the greatest service. I found it more frustrating than anything else. What disappoints is that everything else about ecuador is very cool. You can do and enjoy so much for so little. You either go with the flow and enjoy it for what it's worth or move on.

According to the maps there are supposed to be four places open in central Quito on Sundays:

(1) Masajes Medellin, Arturo Meneses P. 110 y La Gasca. Open supposedly 11am to 9pm seven days a week. $3 beers (local), $4 Budweisers. $20 chicas (20mins) – they might have charged me Gringo prices as it should have been a bit less ($16?). This is the place in Quito where the chicas are introduced one at a time and you have to remember their names. I visited around 4 PM and picked up a 22-year old local girl (Brigitte?) – a big mistake. She insisted on two condoms (“To be safe!”) and used so much KY jelly that it did not work too well (she agreed to use one of my condoms eventually but by that time it was too late to enjoy it much).

(2) VIP Paradise Women, Arturo Meneses P. house N23 111 y La Gasca. It is the first house on the right as you turn onto Arturo Meneses P. Supposedly open 11am to 9pm. I tried around 6 PM, rang the bell repeatedly, there were two dogs barking at me, but nobody came to open the gate for me.

(4) Kahlua 220, 10 de Agosto 4719 (N35-77) y Manosca, stairs to basement of Hotel Gold. Supposedly open 12pm to 9pm seven days a week. Definitely closed around 6:30 PM.

I am fairly positive I had the right places as the street addresses matched exactly and I saw two of the places being seemingly open on Monday (Kahlua and Las Diosas) while walking or driving by.

i finished my first 12 day trip to ecuador in quito and surroundings. in total i had 5 girls at café rojo and 3 at mongos.

café rojo. this is a very busy place after 4 pm. i found ratio of about 10-15 girls to 40-50 guys in the evenings. of those, about 3-4 girls were the best and carrying most of the load. a very high turnaround for these girls, and i did not like this assembly line type of experience. after 4 pm, the best girls did not stay on the floor very long, and mostly have regulars, so forget about chatting with them before you buy the fecha. i found place to be reasonable in early hours, and i usually got there around 1 pm. the entry is $2, beer $2. 50 and fecha $20. of 5 girls, 3 provided good service. one of the girls tried to up sale once inside. she insisted on more money for touching the boobs and did not take the bra off. this kind of attitude turns me off and i don't get release easily. i did get knock on the door, which is rare in quito, with this girl after some time may be 20-25 minutes because it took so long for me to come. from marsical to this area, taxis charged me anywhere from $2. 50 to $12. 00. the average was about $4. 00. the $12. 00 was on friday when i left marsical around 5 pm, too much traffic and it took too long. if i found hard to find taxi in the marsical area or too much traffic, i took the "trole" from any station on the avenue named "10 de agosto" to esatacion "y" and then taxi to this area about $1. by the way, if interested in seeing bullfight in plaza de toros, you could take same trole one station north which is last stop of the line, and then follow the crowds about one block. i found it to be safe way to return too because after the bullfight it was hard to find taxi or streets around there were closed.

mongos. this place is in the same area as cafe rojo, and most of the taxi drivers did not know. it is just in front of the airport terminal "salida nacional". from café rojo if you walk toward the main street on airport side and then turn left you will find this place after 5-6 houses. it is on lower level and you have to take 5-10 step down. the entry is $3 which included beer or cuba libre. the place is very clean, and usually it is in full swing after 10 pm with the good music and fully naked pole dances. i found here girls to guys ratio to be reasonable and found few good looking girls with nice bodies. here you could take your time talking to them before buying the fecha ($20). this is a good replacement to café rojo in the later hours. however, i never stayed beyond 12 midnight.

la marsical/gringoland. i stayed in hostal el arupo which i believe is run by a very nice ecuadorian couple. they charged me $25 per night for a room with private bath including breakfast. a very clean and friendly place. however, you will hear the noise from the street and bars which is very hard to get away from if you are in marsical. this is a very crazy area, lot of bars and streets filled with young people. among them there are homeless people, drug addicts, nasty prostitutes, and all kind of con artists and thieves. except in the early morning, you will not notices those elements because crowds tend to be so huge. after couple of days i started not liking the loud music, crowds drinking in the streets, people peeing open in the public, [url=http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord109][CodeWord109][/url] smell, streets littered with broken glass from bottles, and feeling of watching myself for every second while there. during the early evening hours, you will see military in uniform with automatic rifles, police riding on horses, police with dogs, police in cars, police on motorcycles, and police on foot patrol, but they hardly intervene in anything and slowly disappear as the night goes bye. you have to be really careful to not walk specially alone in this area after 1 am till 8-9 am in the morning.

I've been to Quito twice in last 18 months, and stayed at this same place both times. I agree with his assessment. A great value in GringoLandia... but definitely not a monger hangout.

I seriously doubt, however, that Hostal El Arupo is girl-friendly. But then again, Quito's not really a take-out town.

It depends upon the person. After landing and checking into my hotel, I went to a place and did not have a problem.

Will be there soon. Any new info. Sounds like best places are close to the airport. How far is the airport for downtown? Is there anything there besides sex? Will be there for a few days soon. Any recommendations as far as cheaper girls go?
