I however just kept to the plan of the other clubs which made up for it.

The NUMBER ONE MISTAKE to avoid is not telling them that it's your first time here, which is bad enough, rather it is NOT DISCUSSING (many people are shy) what services should be offered in the room. Once you're in the room, it's already too late and you're vulnerable to upselling after she refuses to give you those extras you forgot to ask for. Her saying no during negotiation beforehand isn't necessarily a loss, rather a potential dodging of a bullet.
