IMHO, however, their timing to end the shutdown, could have been "planned/crafted" a little better, before deciding to cave.
Meaning, this close to the success of BIG WIN in the 2025 Elections and the "NO KINGS" rallies, did kind of sour those victories, somewhat IMHO. Although FWIW, I think that hardworking Americans, do have a clearer picture, of just how cruel and callous the MAGA Fuhrer and Repubs, can be and have been.
IMHO, it should have been dragged out, for just a few more weeks/days (it was already 36 days, so a few more days), taking it a little past Thanksgiving, which would have given Dems a chance to leave an incredible indelible imprint of Repub carnage and suffering, on the American people, and given Dems a magnificent campaign runway, into just how cruel, rotten and callous Repubs, were at Thanksgiving. Essentially, milking that shock and awe, all the way up to the 2026 Midterms...just before 2026 Thanksgiving, could have been a nice golden [/NOPARSE]ticket.

And that is the only part of the Trump / MAGA Repub Government Shutdown that was left on the table not Won by the Dems. So to prolong the suffering of everyone else over the Thanksgiving Holidays, the layoffs with no pay and no settlement about backpay, the suspension of SNAP, etc, all of which Trump and his MAGA Repubs flipped / caved on, ran the realistic risk that the pain of the American people in general matching or exceeding the political pain of Trump and his MAGA Repubs, which would foster resentment against the Dems for not flipping / caving rather than fostering an intensification of their publicly-demonstrated and electorally-proven resentment of Trump and his MAGA Repubs.
And that one element left on the table not Won by the Dems? The extension of the added subsidies for the ACA / Obamacare necessary now for the same reason they were necessary and enacted during Trump's Pandemic; because Trump's economic policies and stewardship are so disastrously bad the American Working Men and Women are suffering too much to buy groceries, god I'm glad Trump invented that word, and gas, pay their mortgage, pay for healthcare, etc, and all while prices and the rate of inflation are higher this year under Trump than they were last year under Biden and while, sure enough, Trump's jobs creation numbers are once again horrible?
LOL. The Dems will Win that one for the greater good of America no matter how Der Fuhrer Trump and his MAGA Repubs vote on it in a month or so.
See, those congressional MAGA Repubs' Red State constituents make up a big chunk of that aforementioned 6% and are as likely if not more likely to be relying on the extension of those additional ACA / Obamacare subsidies than Blue States! Therefore, the pressure on those Congressional MAGA Repubs to agree to an extension as a stand alone, clearly focused vote will be tremendous.

The Congressional MAGA Repubs will vote NO on extending those subsidies and they will enter a midterm year after having jacked up millions of their constitients' healthcare costs by 100%, 200% or more.

At which point, the Dems will be in the best position possible to win the most House seats and possibly some Senate seats in order to stop and undue the Trump / MAGA destruction of America and its economy beginning in January 2027.
