What are the dates that places might be close during this? Planing in arrival March 12th. Thanks.

For the dates. Check the dates online. But I think its the last week of March and first week of April that will be closed.

However, in my past expereince of non sex stuffs. There is still resturants, malls, hotels places that are opens during time in Central Jakarta because there are many Indo-Chinese and non muslims living in city. So is stuff to do. I don't know about spas, gogo bars and other establishments.

Also know there will be girls on Tinder and SA looking for cash, esp in the days leading up to the final Ramandan days, so they can take money back home to the villages. So I would nots rule out Jakarta during March. Maybe just last week and first week of Aprils. And its great because there is NO traffic and less pollutions. Its great time.

Currently some places are open but at a greatly reduced staff and most are only open till 12 pm. Anything too local is a ghost town, the more Chinese oriented clubs like classic are open. Most of the girls I know are home with family for most of the month, not sure about the first week of April. Still fun to be had but considerably more punters then hot chicks at the moment.

As embarrassing as it is. Thought I Would provide a newbie Caveat. Especially for us from USA who fly to Indo: (Feel free to roll your eyes, indeed I made a rookie move):

Important: Change your IDR back into USD prior to coming back. Prior to getting to CGK Jakarta airport!- IF you were like me and taking an early morning flight. I found myself in CGK around 4:30 AM with a fist full of IDR and no money changer kiosks were open. (This isn't the eye roll Que just yet) - I assumed that around 5 AM they would open. And my flight was leaving 6:10 AM. So plenty of time right? Nope. I even walked then briskly walked and none of the small kiosks are open. Not even the souvinere shops! Well, no problem. I'll just trade in my IDR in Japan at the Narita NRT airport! Time to eye roll!

The Japanese currency exchange shop in Narita airport should be an easy transfer. Especially since I am from USA and Japan and Indonesia are asian countries. How much could transferring IDR into YEN and then YEN into USD?

5,540,459 IDR was about $340 USD and I received about $123.00 USD! Lost about 70%! Yes, I should have said NO! And see what the rate would be in USA at LAX or even holding onto the IDR for future Info travels. But I was a dumbass!

Don't be a dumbass. Indonesia airports and Jakarta malls do not have 97 easy to transfer money shops like Pattaya! I did not exchange my USD while in Jakarta because they usually want your original passport to do any transactions and I assumed an airport kiosk money changer would be open.

Lesson Learned!

I was frustrated by the limited street foods available and feeling like the city was very quiet but from memory places like Classic and KI, and Kelapa Gading were operating pretty much as usual. Since then I returned twice and enjoyed it more because of the city being more busy and having more options of places to go etc. I am actually thinking of coming back again soon, but just hesitating a bit considering Ramadan and wondering if perhaps the girl situation was worse than I seem to remember. Any other members have similar / contrary opinions?
